Hey Shayne, the woven material tightens down on itself and grips it :) With the Durakord leaders we've never been able to pull it through, it's crazy strong!

There are a million and one different bits and bobs on the market sold for tying carp rigs. Would you consider putting together a list of essential materials to cover a variety of rigs, so people don't end up wasting a load of money buying stuff they don't really need? I think it would be a really useful video, and I can't see that anyone else has done it yet.

Great tutorial guys! Very simple and well explained. In some venues, we can't use this kind of leader, how do you manage to fish on snaggy and rocky waters without using durakord for example, but with big diameter line? Good news for UK anglers, despite the lockdown, it seems you can go out and fish! Cheers from Switzerland :)

Hey sometimes we fish with 15lb line if it is rocky and we aren’t allowed to use a leader! That is the best we can do :)

Hi Brian! Depends on the type and size of the pop up! Normally a BB splitshot does ok for our 12mm pop ups, but sometimes a larger or smaller one will do.

I know this may seem like a stupid question but, does anybody know if I can use mono hooklink or chod mono hooklink with curvy hooks going for a hair rig setup? Cheers for any help I am trying to get into carp fishing!

Not sure if you ever got the answer you needed, but yes you can use mono straight through to a curved hook. Ideally use a lower breaking strain line below the swivel for your hooklength.

Can you use leadcore with out splicing. E.g just use it with a blood knot instead.

You can, but it tends to be far neater if you splice it. Also if using a helicopter rig then the knot might be too large to let the rig slide off the end. Just be sure that a lost fish can get rid of the lead easily to ensure it’s a safe setup.

Yes so with an in-line lead you really must splice the leader as the lead needs to slide off the end if your Mainline snaps on a fish.

That’s strange, must be a bad product, our leaders always pull down tight!

@@robm7473 Oh right! You've got the same stuff as us! It can't really come undone on both sides of the loop as one side of the loop is the original section itself so it has nothing to come undone from. The material is supposed to tighten down and grip the splice. If it's not doing that I'd suggest it's a dodgy spool.

Why use a ring swivel and not just a normal one?

Hi there! We like ring swivels as it gives the rig natural movement once in the water and seems to cast with less tangles. No reason you can't use a normal swivel though! :)
