Hi I bought morgan silver dollar a few years back and I still don't know if it's real or not. We all know how the world is doing currently and the nearest coin experts from my house is 4 hours away and are likely closed this quarantine (no i didn't buy the silver dollar from them). And apart from them, I have no access to scales, high powered magnets, or sliders so I have no super reliable way to test my silver dollar and I wanted to know if you could help me out. There are a few reasons that this could or could not be real Why it could be real: 1. It's an 1883 Philadelphia. I'm sure you know that those are pretty common and are less likely to be counterfeited. Or atleast that's how I think it works. 2. The coin has even wearing. The scratches and scrapes are pretty even. 3. The coin itself has no flaws in terms of the overall design. No misalignments, no misshapen letters, fonts look good, and no disfigurement overall. Reasons why it could be a counterfeit: 1. I bought it from a random old guy in on a little stall in the middle of a huge market. 2. The man was clearly not an expert. 3. I'm not sure about it's ping test I was wondering if you could help based on this information if you have the time. Have a good day!

Hi. Based on everything you have said, the law of averages suggests it's genuine. Two ways of confirming that: firstly, watch our ping test video (link further down) a couple of times and test your coin - nothing other than a one cent coin needed for that one. Secondly, ask someone you know who has a set of digital scales (kitchen ones are fine for this) and weigh it. A US silver dollar should weigh exactly or very close to 26.73 grams, depending on wear.
