Yeah there was this one kid in the comments of your "would you regret a 1000cc bike", trash talking on the more experienced riders who gave the advice not to start on a 1000cc motorcycle. Was playing the tough guy and accusing others of "not even owning a bike, but knowing everything better", because he started on a 1000cc and he's totally fine out there, riding every day. Kid has a video on his channel, trying to copy the ghost rider and swerving at very high speeds trough traffic. He was counter leaning every time he changed direction. Dangling on the bike like a puppet and not even covering the brake lever. Obviously no training, no skill, but willing to endanger himself and others. Those are the guys who will tell to start on a 1000cc.

@mementomori49727 ай бұрын
@@sword-and-shield Well, how else would you start with something if not as a beginner. Yeah, we're talking a 1000cc sports bike as a very first motorcycle. Even a true 600cc with over 100hp would in my opinion be to much for a beginner. I ride a street triple R now and it's a blast, but I almost certainly would have crashed it, if it would have been my first bike. Not because I was irresponsible, but because it's a very responsive and fast bike, and my muscle memory just wasn't developed enough to deal with unexpected situations, of which there were many, without upsetting the bike. I've ridden liter bikes too, and you really need to know what you're doing if you ride one of those. It for sure is fun, but everything fun about it lives above the legal limit,...so what's the point. Riding those things slow is just a pain.
@sword-and-shield7 ай бұрын
@@mementomori4972 There are many ways to start, and the "street" on any bike is not the best way. Do many do it? absolutely Do many do it starting on a big bore, absolutely. So it becomes an issue of what is most optimal to increase the odds of survival, if you are in long term, because you know you love riding. Opinions will always vary, I give mine based on my 30yrs from things I have witnessed, friends I have lost, crippled up and or disabled. It takes a very specific approach to keep the "odds" of making it through more on the positive side, then those odds just stacking up on the negative side. You bring up good points, points that prove you are at least aware, where most are not. I have helped two guys in my life that started on a 1k sports from newb status, only because they already had the bike before meeting me. They weren't idiots, new the risk's and took heed to my suggestions. All me? hell no, luck with them as well I'm sure. Starting from newb properly, should always be in the dirt, on a dirt bike Why? Its cheap, you wont destroy the bike when you go down, which is integral in learning, but most important, is it builds motor learning pathways that can save your life on the street when you have to act in an instant, and you wont learn these skills starting on the street, ever. Potentially, on a paved race track, but at a far greater cost and risk. The street is NEVER where you learn sport performance riding, this is the biggest mistake often bringing at the minimum destruction, and at the maximum death. Once the skills are learned you can apply them on the street, never really pushing to your true edge tho. Once experienced, the 1k bike over the 600 for first street bike isn't about more speed not needed, but more torque, those bigger CC's bring more torque, and its never too much, because its THAT which will save your life in those bad situations more than anything, and more than once. Riding slow is a pain, always has been, but Tracks, and knowing where I can, has kept me out of jail, except once when living in GA....Hope it helps...roll easy brother.
@mementomori49727 ай бұрын
@@sword-and-shield Finding dirt tracks here in Austria is unfortunately not that easy but we have some beautiful tracks. People starting on liter bikes is also less of a problem here, because beginners are limited to 48hp for the first two years of riding, after which they have to take a licence test to be allowed to ride bigger bikes. Getting a licence in the first place requires 15 hours of riding in traffic with an instructor, 8 hours of rider safety training, 20 hours of theoretical in class and a re-evaluation after one year, which they call "perfection ride" and is basically two hours of riding with an examiner/instructor in a small group and a sitting with a traffic psychologist. They really try to make sure that new riders have a good foundation and basic understanding of what they're doing before they send them out in traffic,...and beginners still crash and get hurt. Is it best to learn in dirt or on track? For sure but it's a bit wishful, because on average, most people just don't have access to a dirt road or a track (maybe in the US, I don't know). What would be a case where a 600 or a 650 doesn't have enough torque to get someone out of a dangerous situation? That's not a trick question I'm honestly interested in your opinion.

This is very interesting video with a VERY interesting subject. Brought me back 3 years ago. Long story short, I'm not one of those pedigree riders who sat on their first bike when they were 2 years old and drove up on their R1 when it was their first day of school. I started riding when I was well over 30 years old. On top of that, bough GSX-R 750 as a starter bike (my logic was "it has C mode, it will be fine"). But I digress, this intro was to explain my background around it. After a month or two, I decided to do my first longer trip (around 300 miles). By that point my head was full with knee dragging stories and what not. I end up on those open roads, twisties, what not. 90% of the time I barely had to lean my bike, even more than that I didn't have the need to move my leg from the tank, bike was easily eating those curves with barely any effort, I felt bad because I thought I'm doing something wrong, and why everyone else "has" to drag their knees, elbows and what not and there I am, barely leaning my bike, doing exact same trips... Some time later, it dawned on me.... fast boiz

It's definitely more dangerous but riding is inherently dangerous. That's a great deal of the appeal. You can become fast in a controlled environment, hitting the same 5-15 turns thousands of times until you're fast on it. But it's pretty sick to apply those skills to an uncontrolled environment under under some pressure. Mastering all the variables of the road. Bumps, humps, dips, cracks, holes, tar snakes, ratchet straps, cones, tires, sand accumulation, water, joints, changes in road surface, and other vehicles path of travel of course. Its all about image, same reason many people will purchase an r7 or something for looks (not that im shaming it if you like how it looks then cool) instead of something comfortable or the other side of the spectrum something actually sporty. The thing is even if people are leaning properly (which they often aren't) its far safer and usually just as quick (at the speeds they're going) for the average pleb to just counter balance, yeah doesn't look cool and you wont reach racetrack speeds and isn't as fun (which is a valid reason to lean imo) but at the end of the day its not a big deal. If you start scraping foot pegs, that's when you need to start leaning in, but again its a gradual thing. I often see fat blokes on an mt10 or mt07 going quicker in twisties than dudes on "race" bikes but again as long as people are having fun then its all cool we can all learn stuff and I consider myself a pretty awful rider but I like my apprehension to going too quick its saved my skin before.

I took him with me as a pillion riding up and down the same exact road twice and keeping the exact same speed both times, one time just smooth as I normally would and he said it was very uneventful, chill and comfortable. The second run I rode aggressively but controlled. Much later braking, a bit more acceleration, took curves a bit tighter etc. He said it was a scary experience and asked how fast I was going there. When I told him we went exactly the same speed as before and never even broke the speed limit once, he went pale :D I get how this would sound like a bit of an a-hole thing of me to do, but 1: he knew ahead of time exactly what was happening, 2: he could stop it at any time, 3: no risks was taken and 4: it was to teach a point similar to what you did here, but he got to feel it haha

One thing with 1000cc bikes is that they are so powerful and heavy. It’s so hard to learn all the right fundamentals on such a bike. I saw it wenn taking my mc license here in Denmark. We took the license on 600cc bikes and we had 2 in my group that just said nope and walked away. The weight and power was scaring them. I bet if they were put on 300cc bikes they would be riding now.

I had a guy in my basic rider course get scared and quit on a kawi eliminator 250

@@delta9554 Ehh okay, then riding wasn’t for him 😁 a 250cc is really easy to ride and I think confidence inspiring too

@@Mr450pro that’s what I thought too. They were so easy to handle and I had never ridden before. This guys problem I think was he thought the clutch was like an on/off switch. Some people just aren’t built for bikes

I can't give respect to people who drive on the streets like they're on a racetrack, there is enough lost souls on the roads like that

Can you name a couple good riders? I think I know some of them but I’m sure I don’t have them all right.

Bro, if you ride and haven't fallen off, you're a good rider.

Your channel is awesome bro. Youre from georgia, too, right? What part? Also, its funny because max wrist is literally exactly what you were describing with all the effects, speeding up video, and hopping side to side on the bike, etc. except he actually does ride those suicide speeds and wrecks all the time hahaha. Havent watch him in a long time though

I think psychologically they might think they are leaning hard or needing to lean hard on a turn that can be actually done with minimal movement. Everyone thinks their neighborhood is Mulholland Drive.

I've seen a lot of shorts from briansmoto, majority of the videos are people trying to drag knee and excessively leaning off their bike to create the illusion that they actually have good body positioning

You know when that person you knew just could not figure out the basics on a dirt bike and continually crashes every 5 feet till they break your clutch lever or a rear fender 😂 Then blames the dirt bike and goes out and buys a new 1000 cc 🚀 rocket . Some people In the world should not force the bike life . Not everyone can just expect to be a natural , I learned years ago when we would go for a day ride and I refuse to this day too not ride with the fake fast or the ( just should not be allowed to ride a bike on the street guys) . They will be paying more attention on how you are riding or trying too look like the poster boy for cutting corners with your knee dragging lol . And they will do anything too keep up so they don’t look bad . Do not take part in it any of it because you will end up getting in huge crap if buddy dies or crashes . Not worth it and tell your friend too buy a nice car if he needs too go fast.
