Kinda resembles candy apple. Is LNC showcasing anything at Sema this year? This will be my first ever to the show and I cannot wait! I’ve been in the auto insurance industry for 31 years and retired 2020. In March 2022 I joined a dealership body shop as an estimator so now I qualify to go. Dang hopefully LNC will be there!! 🤙🤙

You'd probably never have to do it on a production car today, but I'd like to see you spray an old school classic candy apple finish, tinted top coat over a gold or silver metalflake base. Now there's a paint job that tests your skills.

True, very time consuming and takes a lot of skills to do a candy flake job and a massive car with big long body panels. But painting complete car all one color is not as stressful as painting 4-5 jobs A day and having to color match and Blend each job…i would say that is the most difficult part of automotive painting.

Reds like this car and also yellows or golds are a pain in the neck to get right but you aced this one, I was looking at your edge to edge match between the fender and bonnet but you pulled it off big time.

They are, if you know you know. I went all the way to the edge because the front end was repainted elsewhere and its completely flat and faded…since its my brothers car i think we might refinish the front end sometime in the future as well…this way everyone will match 100 percent

Thanks! The only time you ever mix base and clear is with candy, but i also mix black base with clear when i do “smoked” headlights or taillights 👍🏻😁

Control coat is the final coat sprayed lightly to lay out the metallics evenly so you have smooth coverage

You are right, front end is repainted and paint is really dull, my brother will prob repaint the hood and front bumper in the near future so everything looks fresh. Thats why i just painted the whole fender 👍🏻😁

How much tint for 8oz of clear?

Prob just a few drops, 5-10 drops. Cant say for sure because our computer mixing system calculates everything based on color code formula.

Ruby red is one of the best colours ford offers. But heres the problem, from factory the pwint quality of most ford paints are really bad and thin. So actually painting it yourself would have a better quality finish than ford origional paint finish
