I like how dods handles sprinting, it's used more as an emergency movement rather than common game sprinting

I thought the title said DDOS not DODS, and was fully prepared for source to have some server breaking bug with sprinting.

I just love the the implications of the b-roll footage, with Gordon Freeman just deciding to hotfoot it up the entire coast to Nova Prospekt instead of taking the car like a sane person. It somehow hits different than when I see speedruns ABH their way through Highway 17.
@SuperCityscanКүн бұрын
I did Highway 17 and Sandtraps once without the buggy and no speedrun moves. There are 2 places where you will be in trouble without the buggy. The first is at Odessa's, the gate won't be opened without a car, but you can just jump pass the gate. The second is the broken bridge after the crane section. You could ABH over it, but if you are a noob like me you could just smg grenade jump over it with a few tries. Make sure you have enough health.

It makes sense that in DODS you don't want to be sprinting basically ever. Unlike in COD, in real life if you sprint places you will tire out for WAY longer, especially when you factor in adrenaline comedown fatigue and the fact you're carrying at least 60 pounds of gear. It's meant to be used to get out of line of sight, to cross gaps in cover, etc. Not as your default mode of movement. xD

as one of the few people that play dod:s at a casual level this is everything

Back when I played DODS, sprinting into a corner would significantly increase stamina recovery rate. Don't know if that's still in the game tho.
@PinsplashКүн бұрын
in that case you wouldn't be moving so you would have the 60% rate
@LonesomeBeanКүн бұрын
Ah, could have sworn it was faster cuz I had to keep sprinting. But thanks for clarifying

Sprinting being mid in DoD is realistic, because for long distances, slow and steady wins the race. Sprinting is terrible for long distance running. With all your script machinations you could only match the default running efficiency + 5, and doing so isn't humanly possible too. Good stuff

as someone with legs, i can sprint.

Can confirm, as someone who likes DOD:S, sprinting is terrible.

How to Sprint Optimally in DoDS: *don't*
@notalostnumber866018 сағат бұрын
You need to be moving at less than 100u/s what if you used analog movement so that you could change between full speed and slow walking?
@notalostnumber866018 сағат бұрын
Since this is the source engine, you can add this to your alias macro with a cl_ variable (can't remember the name right now), so you can do it automatically instead of trying to mess with a joystick or analog keyboard
