I’ve always preferred high bar squatting for whatever reason so this video was great for me.

3:50 I've noticed that strongmen tend to all have a very wide grip on the squat. I wonder how much shoulder mobility you lose when you get that big
@TYPHONart4 жыл бұрын
Well, if your arms are that huge it's hard to get the hands closer :d But a lot of strongmans have pretty crazy mobility for their sizes, so I don't think it bothers them xD

you dont have to lose that much if you do your mobility work. just look at the heavyweight weightlifting guys at the olympics

The claim is you should be able to squat more than you deadlift. Is that the general rule of thumb? I have trouble with my squats. My deadlifts are developing much faster than my squats. As of now I just posted two shorts of me hitting 405lbs deadlifts. First video had many mistakes such as hips rising first, not pulling slack with terrible bracing and breathing. Second posted video had many good corrections. However in truth maybe I hit the 405lbs deadlifts from concentrating on improving my squats more.
@doulie76874 жыл бұрын
My Squat is better than my deadlift. So I thought I need to deadlift sumo, but then my hips shoot up. When I do conventional, then for me it's hard to lift the weight off the floor but my lockout is way stronger. Does that mean I don't have the isometric strength in my lower back? Because my legs are strong enough for sure.

Memphis I have a very similar issue I’m 18 and have squatted 515 raw but can barely pull 400. Never really understood could just be a lacking of pulling power on my part. But I’ve pulled 600 on a trap bar which doesn’t mean much.

why do strongmen wear these velcro belts underneath their normal belts?
@OlMoldy4 жыл бұрын
Double belting makes for a better brace. The velcro belt covers more area on the core. It cues whatever it touches
@NathanD24 жыл бұрын
I think they’re not allowed in powerlifting. But it’s just more support. Only reason they aren’t used in powerlifting is the rules I think

extra support and it avoids pinchin the power belly skin (which isn't a big deal but it's a pain in the ass)
@meetlawf32384 жыл бұрын
Bartek Bartek while most of the answers are true about it giving slightly more support, it is negligible, the primary reason they use it is to prevent the belt from penching their belly, which is why you usually see the bigger guys use it, while most leaner competitors don't
