what interface did you setup the ip on it for the switch and can you setup on any interface of your choice or the interfcae has to match the connector like vlan int fa 0/1 gi 0/0/0 because i am having issue setting up on the swtich interface but on the router it does work idk why i am getting this issue

set it up on vlan1 and dont forget no shutdown command

Where did you input the ip address of the switch? Is it placed on a vlan?
