So do you remove the cake board from the bottom of the top cake before you stack it on top. I didn’t see a board under the top tier
@BritishGirlBakes4 жыл бұрын
No, the board is still under the top cake. I covered the cake with fondant all the way down over the cake board so that you can't see it :)

Yes that's fine! Just make sure the bottom cake is secured to the cake stand or plate with a a dollop of buttercream so that it doesn't slide around

Can i use paper straw for support each tire?
@BritishGirlBakes5 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried paper straws because they aren't as strong as plastic, especially if they get damp inside the cake. If you don't want to use plastic straws I would recommend using wooden dowels instead

Do you still need to have cake board underneath the cakes when you stack the 1st and 2nd tier of cake?
@missprofessor6794 жыл бұрын
Righem Bautista Usually you do so there is not as much weight or pressure on the bottom tier. This helps prevent your cake from smushing.

Hi I was so wondering. Will buttercream hold its own when set up for at wedding venue. When do you suggest that it's set Up?
@BritishGirlBakes2 жыл бұрын
I keep my cakes in the fridge until 4 hours before serving. So ideally, keep the cake in the fridge until transporting it and depending on how far in advance you get to the venue, refrigerate the cake there until 4 hours before it will be served. You can stack the tier cake at any time, as long as it's kept in the fridge until 4 hours before serving. Sometimes it's easier to stack at home and then transport.

Which cake pan is better for layer cakes 8 x 2 or 8x3 Please reply I’m very confused on this
@BritishGirlBakes3 жыл бұрын
Completely up to you! I use 3 inch tall pans to bake two tall layers and then I divide the cake layers in half horizontally to make 2 layers each, so I end up with 4 layers and that makes nice tall cakes. If you use 2 inch cake pans you can bake 2 or 3 or 4 layers individually instead of dividing them later. I hope that makes sense!

Hi, so it means is it okay if i didn't put any dowel/straw at the middle throughout the 2 tier cake?i'm doing 8 at the bottom & 6 on top 😊
@BritishGirlBakes4 жыл бұрын
I don't put a central dowel through 2 tiers but I travel very very carefully - no bumpy roads, sudden stops etc
@nebula69485 жыл бұрын
Could we use anything else to secure the top layer like straws or bbq skewers?
@BritishGirlBakes5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I like boba straws because they're really strong but if you have good quality regular-sized straws those should work too. I don't recommend bbq skewers because they have such a narrow base so they aren't as good support

What size straws should you use? 10 in?
@BritishGirlBakes Жыл бұрын
They only need to be as tall as the cake so if they're 10 inches, depending on the height of your cake you might be able to get two supports out of each straw

Hi I wanted to ask a question, what happens is that I have to make a cake of three floors but of chocolate covered in fondant, and wanted to know if your chocolate recipe is compact to be able to make it. I checked your page to tell you if the line for fondant is the one that says perfect chocolate cake.

What should you do if you forget to put the bottom dowels in and have finished the cake😩

Oh dear! I would slide a cake lifter or wide spatula under the top cake to separate it and lift it off, add dowels, and then replace it and touch up the join or add a border to disguise it
