Excellent presentation in a very thorough and methodical format. Contractor was easy to listen to as he progressed through the various steps from start to finish.

Awesome! Very professional. You do everything the same way I do .Same issues to the T Its seems rare to find a video of people who actually know wth they are doing. Only thing I do different is use a bigger bucket for my deck brush lol. Oh and maybe put some Revive on it before staining.
@AndYetHereWeAre4 жыл бұрын
Revive is basically Oxalic acid. Instead of buying it from the store you can buy 10 lbs of it from Amazon for $30 and make 40 gallons of it. Which is what he did. Pro move. Buying it from Sherwin Williams by the gallon is for amateurs.
@yubentuben25334 жыл бұрын
@@AndYetHereWeAre correct, I buy the powder and make up my own also I just mentioned revive for homeowner diy ers. But yeah bigger bucket (pro move) and work next to each other in sections(pro move) with your own bucket instead of waiting (pro move). Since complimenting I guess brings out your ego.

Hello, any idea how to get deck stain off of limestone? I forgot to cover one section, limestone is under deck and now it has drips all over it. Thanks much!

Do you not clean the underside of the deck. How much do you charge and how do you charge
@jrmcnab823 жыл бұрын
Excellent video, guys - many thanks! One question: Is there a reason you wait and sand the deck last (i.e. after you've stripped and brightened)? Would there be any either up- or down-sides to sanding first and then stripping and brightening? Looking to tackle a 20-y.o. pressure-treated wood deck, replacing previous semi-trans stain with new (different brand) semi-trans stain/sealer (either Restore-a-Deck, Defy Extreme, or TWP 100). Thanks!!!

I think it would be best to wait for it to weather a bit. Otherwise you could try stripping your deck

Semi transparent stains made for decks typically always provide the seal in one

I watched these videos from stripping to staining and clearly this is alot of work. My question is how much did they charge for that job? I have a very similar deck in need of refinishing and I would need a man of this caliber to trust with the job. I would expect the cost to be high.

I recently got an estimate for our deck, about the same size as the video and it was $3500.00. Ouch.

@@okeefepainting1023 What's your process of restoring balusters that have been painted? Would you just put a primer on them and put a new coat on? Or would you go through the process of actually removing them with a solvent stripper? Thanks
@okeefepainting10234 жыл бұрын
@@paolojose6706 For a previously painted surface I personally would try to strip the paint off. I would pressure wash to remove the flaky paint, scrape/sand where needed, oil prime and then latex top coat. Or, I may skip the prime and latex top coat and just go with a solid deck stain.
@paolojose67064 жыл бұрын
@@okeefepainting1023 That makes sense. I just can't imagine having to scrape/sand the paint off of each and every baluster on a deck - especially if there's more than 50. Is there an efficient way to do this or is it just a matter of time and patience? I feel like some orbital sanders don't even fit in between balusters.. Also, skip the prime and latex top coat for a solid deck stain since most are self-priming, is that correct? Thanks again!
@okeefepainting10234 жыл бұрын
@@paolojose6706 These arent great jobs to work on, eventually you'll want to focus on other types of work but if you're committed to the job I would do my best with a turbo pressure washing tip and a sanding sponge/5 way in between the spindles. Thats correct about the deck stain.. its self priming.

Hi, thanks for another excellent video! I was hoping I could ask a quick question... I noticed that you were using an oil based stain, and for the cleanup a thinner. Do you have any suggestions for water based stain sealer especially for cleaning those newer powder coated aluminum railings? Much appreciated!
