This guy is absolutely amazing-such an endearing quality to him. Completely melts the tension in a room, puts people at ease, excellent skills for a doctor. With the scribing and hopefully good stats he’ll be a great addition to any med school cohort

Underrated channel. Just had my interview today and, while im not totally sure I'll go even if accepted, your videos really helped me prepare and more importantly settle my nerves. Thanks man, very appreciated

I’m considered URM so thank you for making this video! I still have a year before I apply but this is amazing.

I feel like he should put that martial arts stuff on there ! Everything that you do shapes you as a person and gives you skills to navigate through life . So taking a skill like martial arts teaches you all those values he mentioned and it will make him a better physician... like me I been dancing since 14 and danced with a small company in my hometown .. my dance hobby taught leadership , community, stress management

Hi Dr. Grey, I noticed you where the key note speaker for the UCF Medical School Admissions Symposium. If I attended, what would I gain that I don't already gain from watching your videos?

How to stand out when you're URM??? Don't URMs already stand out since they're URM compared to ORMs? I'm confused...
@mikell.60643 жыл бұрын
It's about doing it the right way. If that's all you focus on you have a mediocre application, if you don't mention it you're neglecting a big part of your story.
@brightetumuse2883 жыл бұрын
URM doesn’t make you stand out or special. There are thousands of URMs applying every year. Telling your story goes way beyond your race or demographic. That’s how to “stand out.”

@@mikell.6064 Yeah but I don't get why the title highlights it as if URM is a thing that brings them down. Doesn't "how to stand out as an ORM" make more sense, since ORM's are the ones at a disadvantage? Title should've been something else that uplifts URM's rather than act like it brings them down.
@angelrs_113 жыл бұрын
@@DA-bb1jc being orm puts you at a disadvantage? What do you think orm even stands for? More orms in the schools and on the faculty/adcoms means more orms will get in the next cycle and every cycle after. If anything you’re extremely advantaged. urms all combined are the smallest population at each med school. Low urm faculty or adcoms means you’ll be unlikely to relate or be well liked by your interviewer.
@DA-bb1jc3 жыл бұрын
@@angelrs_11 Lol that's because less URMs apply. Strictly speaking off of published data by the AAMC that you can check out for yourself, average GPA and MCAT scores for URM matriculants are significantly lower than ORMs. There's no advantage to being ORM. Just because there's more ORMs accepted doesn't mean it isn't more competitive.

i’ve been watching this channel for about 6 months. i am so confused on what “untraditional/nontraditional” student means. i’ve been applying these concepts to myself but i don’t think i am nontrad. i am a second year undergrad (str8 from HS into college)
@diegorenteria40423 жыл бұрын
Non-trad means they took multiple gap years after college before applying to medschool. Traditional means applying to medschool your 3rd or 4th year of college. Hope this helps!!!
