Hey Christian! Great stuff. I'm 13 minutes in and I already have a question: If it takes so little time to develop your product, why waste time validating your idea. Why not just develop it? Especially when starting out, going through the process has quite a bit of value. So many startups have validated their ideas only to fail anyway. Also, if you are working with a niche audience that you have picked because you "understand their pain", couldn't fake downloads/waitlists/etc alienate future customers?

Me again: Now at 19:53. "Smoke test." Like the term. Never heard it before. However, at least in my personal experience, if I hear "soon to be released", "join the waitlist", etc....I'm gone. No email for you. Back in the day, I gave up my email many times to be notified when the product would be released....NEVER got a followup. If you HAVE to "smoke test" your idea, maybe it would be better to make it look like there was a server error or something similar when they submit. The "soon to be released" validation technique just says to me: We've been untruthful with you and just wasted your time. Not a great way to start a customer relationship. Thoughts?
