I’ve been in the detailing business for 16 years. And let me tell you, this gentleman really answer some serious questions with all honesty and knowledge. It’s not an easy business, lots of rat race out there with prices. But put your heart in the right place and you’ll do good.

Hey do you have any advice on the best way to generating new clients?
@EurocarDetail
@EurocarDetail Жыл бұрын
@@MLee45950 there’s the easy way and the hard way. The easy way is for non recurrent clients = rebates. Hard way is recurrent clients and your best salesmen. It takes years to build, always give your best and keep communication with your clients. As for getting new clients, google ads is your best bet right now. Build a website, even a simple one where you show your services and contact. A good strategy is always crucial but not easy to achieve. Let me know if you have questions.

Consistently generating about 3.5k a month for about 6 months now. Focusing mostly on weekly and bi weekly clients. Finding best leads come from referrals so always so your best with new clients and go a little above whether it's on the interior or exterior to get that wow factor. You want clients that will now your worth and high level of service. Hoping to get training by p&ss by the end of the year 🙏 God willing.

I'm looking into starting up this type of business when I move to northern Europe. We get long days of sun in the summer, and long dark and extremely cold winters. I've got no experience, but I've got a great work ethic, and I've been watching videos about detailing for quite some time. I do some basic interior cleanings now for my truck and my wife's car (nothing that requires more than a car powered vacuum due to where our cars are located in comparison to our townhouse). Vacuum, floormat cleaning, cleaning and protecting the dash, cleaning the seats and seatbacks, cleaning the windows (streaking is a problem I am working on correcting). We did even go out one night in the rain and wash the exterior windows with soap in the rain. I've purchased pressure washing wand, underbody rolling pressure washer attachment, a bunch of microfiber cloths, wash mitts, etc... I can't wait to get over there and pull the truck into our garage and give it a wash, clay bar, ceramic coating and shine her up.

What tools do I need to start with
@jinjoz42
@jinjoz42 3 жыл бұрын
@@Pepecoin123 here is a very basic list of tools you need. Hose and nozzle Two buckets Multiple wash nuts, I'd say 5 or 6 Soap specifically made to wash cars An absorber, or something to dry the car with Something to remove sap and far. Lacquer thinner works great A polisher (buffer). Griots G9 is a great high quality polisher at a decent price (about 150) Multiple polishing pads of various harshness(soft, medium, hard) Lots of microfiber towels Compound (for scratch removal or heavily damaged cars). Use the hard pad with this Polish (to bring out the shine and remove minor scratches and swirls). Use the medium pad for this, typically it's yellow Wax or sealant. Wax adds more gloss but doesn't last as long. Sealant add longers protection and some gloss. (Typically).
@jinjoz42
@jinjoz42 3 жыл бұрын
@@Pepecoin123 part 2.... Glass cleaner Tire shine Vacuum Some detailing brushes. Some soft ones for around the electronics and vents. A stiffer one to help with getting stuff out of carpets A tool to remove pet hair, a lilly brush is a great option An electric drill and a brush attachment to help with carpet cleaning Carpet shampoo A light APC or a dedicated Interior cleaner for plastics, cup holders, dash, etc. Leather conditioner for the seats. That's a good basic list of things you would need to do a full inside and outside detail. There are tons of products out there and sometimes it just takes testing to see which ones you prefer. By default though I would say meguirws puts out good products in all categories. But as you test out different products you will find out which you prefer to work with

I appreciate the video, but...there are a lot of mistakes in this video that young detailers need to know. There's a LOT of terribly wrong information to unpack here, which damages our industry with people thinking they know what they're talking about when they don't. Here are some examples: 0:40 Using aggressive brushes on leather that doesn't need it 2:35 Not folding the MF towels properly before using them on windows/anything else 2:56 Allowing the foam polishing pad to touch the plastic trim/not taping off the trim before polishing 3:52 Using brushes to clean pads instead of the proper technique of compressed air 4:27 Incorrect clay bar technique 6:02 Using WHEEL ACID on the paint? What the f*? Just no lol. Don't do that. 7:20 APC or all purpose cleaners have NO BUSINESS on the INSIDE of your car. Use interior-specific products. 7:45 Laquer thinner??? Do not do this to your car. Use GooGone or isopropyl alcohol. 7:59 DO NOT use a grout brush. Buy a proper horse hair detailing brush specific to car detailing. 8:10 - again, incorrect microfiber towel technique 8:12 - AGAIN, incorrect microfiber towel technique 9:00 - AGAIN... 9:01 Spraying the chemical directly onto the dashboard instead of onto your microfiber towel - big NO NO 9:03 Terrible microfiber towel technique 9:37 Spraying chemicals directly onto the dashboard/steering wheel instead of onto the microfiber towel 9:39 Using a very aggressive brush on sensitive areas instead of correct horse hair brushes 9:45 Using a chamois to dry your car - NO NO NO NO NO! Always use plush microfiber towels along with a drying agent (quick detailer, or ONR) to dry your car. 10:07 Using dirty, old towels to clean the interior - do we even need to talk about that? 10:33 Rubbing the paint aggressively. Don't do that.

I haven’t quite got to that step in this career yet. Saw some videos of mobile detailing a couple months back and just sat on the idea of doing it. It’s a big move for someone with 3 little ones and a wife you know? Decided income tax I could throw down 2k to get me going and go all in. Gives me 8 months to come up with a business plan, do as much research as possible, pick some brains, and see what I can do out here in Dallas, TX

I just want say as a business owner. When someone comments or reviews my places of business I would never come back and argue and fight in the reply or comments section. As I’m reading through the comments all I see if the owner snapping back at the comments. Sometimes it’s just best to not say anything at all. I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone. But don’t make yourself look bad to “defend yourself”. Thank them for watching and for their input and advice and move on.

@@supremewhip using diluted wheel acid on lettering the brighten them up and clean between the lettering is a pretty standard practicing in detailing. It is also a great method for removing water spots off of vehicles as long as it is done on the shade and monitored carefully.
