Daemons work in kill team, warcry, 40k, age of sigmar and 30k making them one of the best options in gw for collecting an army

Worth noting that GW just eliminated the daemons-only faction in Age of Sigmar. They still work with their respective mono-god factions, but will likely require some AoS-only "mortal" units as well to fill out your ranks. Still a big plus!

People who are also planning to use these figs for other non-GW games might find the combat patrol more useful than average. They're somewhat more generic demonic designs than the demons of other chaos powers. The bloodletters in particular are about as generic a "hellish warrior" stereotype possible without them wielding actual pitchforks, and the flesh hounds are pretty good generic demon-dog things. Could mix 'em in with chaos hounds and dire wolves if you wanted a more chaotic hunting pack too. On the flip side, if you don't give a fig about using GW models in 40K or fantasy, the Frostgrave demons plastic kit make much cheaper and far more varied bloodletter models than the actual figs do. $35 for 20 modular figs makes even the combat patrol discount look pretty sad, and you can find Frostgrave discounted too.

Step 1: WAIT until the points update. Daemons are pretty balanced so there really is little need for further tweaks beyond this points update for flamers

@@carlossanblas5807 They're actually fine. Everything Nurgle is just overshadowed by Flamers and they don't mix well with the other factions. When Flamers get nerfed, you'll start to see Plague Drones getting spammed.

On a related note, if you're looking for more variety in your demonic nurgle forces the Gellerpox Infected set gets you a reasonable pile of stuff for $65. The 16 little critters could be mixed together to make multiple bases of nurgling proxies or selectively added to larger models (the flies are particularly good for that) to personalize them, the three mid-sized guys double as plague bearers just as easily as they do poxwalkers, and the big guys could be re-based on 50mm and be used as chaos spawn if you've got some mortals along, or are allying with them. If you watch for them you're starting to see a few people listing parts from the kit, although the frame layout and rules for them as themselves in KT will probably limit that a fair bit.

I just find it weird that looking through the Demons in the codex, Tzeench is the only group that doesn't have his main line as a choice, like Khorne has his bloodletters, Nurgle has his Plaguebearers and Slannesh has her Demonettes, but no normal Tzangors But looking at it my 1,000 point army will be 1- Karanak 20- Bloodletters 10- Hell Hounds 10- Plaugebearers 3- Nurglings 10- Blue Horrors Allied Forces- 20 Tzangors (yeah I'm trying to go for a rush and surround army since the orcs beat me badly last time I want to make sure I can beat them this time)

Hello I am new and have a question if anybody could answer. I want to build a daemon army, I have purchased some models but upon arrival and inspection I realised that they may not work together. I have brought 1x great unclean one 1x daemon prince 1x pox bringer 1x infernal enrapturess 1x blood master 1x bloodletter unit And the bit that throws me off I was gifted a death guard combat patrol, can I use this in the same list? If so, what disadvantages or advantages does it pose for me. Thanks

I've only been able to get 1 game in with the new codex but it was very fun! They play very differently than other armies, given that there is little to no shooting and their unmodifiable daemon save gives them excellent protection from incoming shooting attacks. They don't seem overpowered to me, or maybe that's because I play strictly Slaanesh, which isn't getting a whole lot of attention from meta gamers. Daemons seem pretty balanced IMO, and finally playing a non-space marine army makes the game more interesting. I support my daemons with a Chaos Knight, which provide the extra toughness and umph necessary to close with the enemy, and diversity of tactical options. Based on what I'm seeing, I agree with you AT that some of the more meta-friendly daemons will likely get a slight nerf. In that case Slaanesh and Chaos Knights will likely be unaffected, or at least not so badly. Those chariots are great! Very cheap and strong.

The combat patrol isn't a general purpose box at all. It's a Khorne box and nothing else. That's all well and good if you want to play Khorne. Otherwise, it's not that great. The Slaanesh box has the same problem as a lot of these combat patrol and start collecting boxes. Instead of concentrating on giving a low cost HQ suitable for small games and a selection of core units, a big chunk of the contents are tied up in one, big centerpiece model. More Daemonettes and one of the Slaanesh specific HQ choices like The Masque would be a hell of a lot more useful for a starting player.

How to play Chaos Daemons: Get Abbadon or Be'Lakor and some flamers, then throw in a few other things for flavor. Probably Nurgle stuff since it's durable.

As a Daemons player since 5th edition, my advice to others is don't bother playing Daemons. GW repeatedly forgets that your faction exists, and they intentionally underpower it because they don't want players playing a faction that can be used in both 40K and AoS. They want players to buy brand new armies for both games. You will rarely get new miniatures, and your codices will always be late and underwhelming. If you look closely at the rules in the Daemon codex for each edition you will realize that a lot of them don't make sense. This is because very little thought is given to Daemons as a playable faction. If you plan to just play with friends and want a cool looking army, then go for it. Daemons are the coolest looking army. Just don't expect to get rules that are in line with any of the other factions in the game. Really, the best advice for Deamons players is to stop playing Warhammer. Pick up D&D or some other TTRPG. You can use all of your cool Daemon miniatures and you can play a game with your friends that is actually fun and not balanced based on monetization.
