Going to start my own in home daycare, in my state you can have 8 without a license and anything above that you need one. So I’m starting out small and then planning on growing and hiring help/ getting my license

You're very welcome! You will have to check with your State's Licensing Requirements. Typically windows have to be a certain measurement to escape out of in the case of a fire/emergency & a door leading outside. But every State has different Requirements.

Hi, I ran both of my programs as a Sole Proprietorship vs an LLC. For insurance, I did that separately as well. My states regulation office gave me a list of Home Daycare Insurances and I called around from there to see what my options were, however you can always google & find an insurer on your own. Yes! I am pretty sure the state would allow that. Depending on the amount of hours you are open, you may or may not have to become licensed. I would contact your State's Licensing & ask them :)

Hi. Great question. Every state is different. I have included a link that you can find out exactly the qualifications you need to start a Home daycare based on your state. But typically most states are looking for past history working with children, (usually either babysitting, working in the childcare field or even being a mom may apply to your state). And also your state, if they require a license will have you take some training hours in things like such as CPR/FA, child safety, etc. before getting your license & usually every 18 months after you are licensed. Do you have to have children for your in home daycare before your home inspection or is that something you work on once you pass your inspection?

Most states allow a childcare provider to watch 2 children without a license, however it isn't required. You can go through the entire licensing process & then get children after you become licensed! I hope this was helpful!Thank you for watching & for your question.

If you want to be a small home daycare you do not need your landlords permission even if the lease says you cannot run a business out of your home. You just need to send them something in writing.
