I've spent the afternoon watching videos in your Press-on Nail Business playlist (still have a few more to go), and I have a few quick questions: I don't think you mentioned a source for the cuticle oil you include with your luxury nail sets, and I couldn't find it on your Amazon lists. The ones I found on Amazon are a bit pricey, and I couldn't find any sold in bulk (unless 15 IS bulk for individual tubes of cuticle oil). Do you have a link for the one you use so I can get an idea of what to look for? I noticed you have some of the Aprés Couleur Gel Polishes. If you were going to buy one or two to use as a base coat & nail bed color, which ones would you chose that would work best for most skintones? I was looking at the six polishes in their Sheer Nude line and they all look way too light (to me), especially on WOC. Last question (promise! For now, anyway... 😉): I noticed the widths of the Aprés Gel-x nails *with the same size number* vary slightly from each other depending on the nail shape AND length. Because of that, do you recommend your customers get a sizing kit when they want to order a set in a shape and length different from any they've bought from you before? Or are the width differences so small it's unnecessary? (Oops.. that was TWO more questions, wasn't it? My apologies). Dom, I really appreciate you taking the time to film, edit, write and record the voiceover and then upload each video in your Press-on Nail Business series. It's helped me so much. I've been thinking about starting my own press-on nail business (bet you didn't see *that* coming, did you? 😂). But don't worry; regarding nail art, there's only two things we have in common: I have no intention of doing holiday nails, and any attempt I might make to paint characters would inevitably look like Picasso did them. thank you. ive been selling nails since before the pandemic so it really took off when nail salons closed lol. I don’t do any measuring at all. all my customers have to buy a sizing kit to find out. I just go by the xs/s/m/l that everyone else has started using. I used a reference on google when I started.

How they'll be applied is up to the customer. Your goal is to sell practical art. You can provide glue, or you can even provide small UV lamp with uv glue ("egg mini UV lamp" is strong AF and costs 3$) which will cost you 6$ total per set and you can provide for 10$-15$ as a separate available purchase on your site.

Your answer now has me confused. I thought the nails could not be decorated before adhering with gel. The light doesn't go through the layers of polish and art etc. Maybe if they were all french tiped, but if they were dark colors, I was told a full lamp cannot cure it, let alone a mini egg light. So are you saying it will cure through??

Stephanie, 80/80 is the grit of the file. A file obviously has 2 sides, so its telling you both sides are the same. You can get them where each is different, 80/100 for example. The smaller the number the stronger or ruffer the file. 80 is the harshest and not for natural nails, 150 & 180 is a medium and what the techs use while doing artificial nails. 240 up to 5000 is for a manicure and a high gloss shine. Because she's filing plastic or gel tips, she's using the strongest available for quick results. She'll also be able to use her file multiple times, providing its a good quality ones and all the sand abrasion doesn't come off quickly. Hope that helps :)

What would you say is the start up costs to start this business. I understand you cannot give exact figures, and one doesn't start with everything at first. If you could just give an approx. of what is the min. needed. Also, could you do a video on how to price your nails, doesn't have to be your real costs, just a break down of how you factor in all your expenses and time and products. I would say around $400-$700 if you are buying quality products. Prob cheaper if you use cheaper products. I price my nails based on how long I take to make them , the quality , how in demand they are & the products I use to make + ship them. When I first started in 2020 they were priced around $25-$30 & this year they range from $50-$120. I built a nice client/customer relationship with a good amount of people and they purchase regularly. Glad the video helped! Thank you kindly for your DM info, and allowing future questions. As for pricing yes, I totally understand the increase over time. But when I see girls selling them at $20 - 30 a set, I wonder if there is any money thats profit. Doing a quick look at all the items needed to package the nails for shipping, then the care kit, then the cost of all nail products used, and the actual shipping cost. That comes out around $20. Depending what was on the nails. You got nothing for your time, skill, education, for You!! And I am sure customers do not realize it cost us, the techs, more to make press ons then actual nails on them. As we dont package and ship their hands... I guess I'm trying to figure out if this is something worth getting into, never was thinking this would make me a millionaire, but it would be nice to pay the rent... lol Again, I thank you for all your help, it is truly appreciated.
