How To Start Cosplay

First time cosplayers shouldn't worry so much about being super accurate to the character they want to cosplay as. My first cosplay was Temari from Naruto Shippuden, I didn't own wigs at the time so I just used my own hair, I'm at least 3-4 inches shorter than Temari and I didn't even have her fan I used a wall fan I had that had a dragon on it and people thought that was so much cooler than what her fan actually looked like. So really first timers shouldn't sweat it you can always improve over time.

This is very wise advice! I agree with you COMPLETELY at 5:51 about skin tones. I never understood why my non-white/non-asian friends complained about not being able to cosplay because of their race. I'm black, and I LOVE to cosplay ALL of my favorite characters to the max! I love your eyes and your dress btw!

I understand what you mean =\ ... there is a few option I can think of 1) Exercise, eat right, slim down 2) ignore other people's opinion 3) don't cosplay those characters. Select one you feel the best about =)

+Danise Barroso Crowdfund costumes with your friends, you can take turns if the event is for few days and if it is a large group then you would have multiple cosplays and even a new one for next event.

age doesn't matter when cosplaying! Anyone can cosplay~ but if you're young, it depends if your parents allow you to do so. I know people who are 13 and already cosplayed a bunch of times.

For a first cosplay, would you advise going as a character who perhaps you wouldn't need a wig for? [IE - a character with a hair color/style that is very similar to yours] - Also, do you think it matters if your team all cosplays from the same series? I have friends who are cosplay veterans, but I think that some of their favorite cosplays are from series that I myself haven't read. Either way, this was a really helpful video! yes and yes. But this is just a guideline, feel free to change if you can =) If you managed to get your hand on an affordable & suitable wig then why not? If your team mates clicks really well with u but have other cosplans for the event then by all means let them do what they prefer =) You don't need to cosplay the same series to be friends though that usually gives you more common topics to talk about

I made a huge mistake and the character I chose as my first cosplay was Hatsune Miku... The wig is too long and gets tangled a lot and the overall costume is just so hard to make! I'm not saying she's a bad character to cosplay but I thing it would've been better if I was more experienced before I decided to cosplay her
