I’m 40 used to lift when I was younger but fell out of my routine and allowed my discipline to weaken. But lately I’ve been feeling motivated to get in the best shape of my life. Is it to late?

At what age do you think a young athlete needs to choose their sport to become elite? I’m sure you are aware of the book “Bounce” by Matthew Syed and the golden 10,000 hour practice. I am a strength and conditioning coach and I believe athletes can definitely work in the gym to close the gap and every athlete benefits from being stronger, quicker, more agile, mobile, fit, explosive. But how much can it actually improve on say kids who have been doing their sport since say 5 years old in comparison to someone who may start at 14 even though they may have trained all their life in different sports? Do you think Jacob could have become even better if he had chose to just solely weight lift a few years earlier?

Does hypertrophy training slow you down, I.e if a boxer starts hypertrophy training will his punches look slower or will he become stiff/sluggish?
@joshuamclean4588 Жыл бұрын
If you train the right way, he will become more powerful.
@nepzski Жыл бұрын
there is a thing call functional strength and that is exactly what all athletes work for so it is obvious if a boxer trains hypertrophy they will do it in a way that will not hinder their movement speed and punching power but make them have more movement speed and punching power

You should require 4 days a week minimum commitment if they want to use your great facility and COACHING!!! They need to show commitment on the front end. For you to invest the time back! Blows my mind kids wanting to train 3 days a week!!!! Appreciate this golden content I can’t get enough of this amazing channel! You remind me so much of my college strength coach who always knew exactly how to bring out the best in others. Keep it up. The energy you propel goes so far.

Plenty of GS videos address what athletes should be doing. Get their app or use the last 7 days you've been complaining to use these resources to make your own. Not gonna get far as an athlete using others to make excuses rather than putting in the work yourself.

Bro use your resources and stop being LAZY!!! Literally this channel has SOOOO MUCH information surely you can take bits and pieces to calculate your OWN custom program that FITS YOU BEST!! Don’t be a robot dude! You know your body as well as anyone!!!!
