Thanks for the video. I bought this last year at my local dealer. Only online manuals available. I didn't even know there was a fuel shut off valve until i saw your labeling of this machine in the video. Toro doesn't even label it !

Thank you! Best, easiest and most clealry explained with specific parts of the snow blower pointed out to follow video for a Toro and the one I have. Lots of good advice as well. Great ideas on marking the snowblower clearly with labels. I also didn't know about the length of the cord for the electric start and how it can affect the life of it. Unfortunately there are no outlets within 40 ft of my snowblower. Great hint on strarting it several times in the summer and the silicone spray.

I have a Toro PowerMax 826 that I bought last season (fall of 2022) that touts its new machine is not needing shear pins because it is so tough. The pins (Bolt) that hold the augers and the impellers to the respective shifts have been breaking so frequently it's hard to keep them in stock in my garage. I was hoping that this video would address that in someway. Rather than not needing shear pins at all I am going through bolts like Chiclets.

Great video! Is there any situation where you would want to run the machine with the throttle less than max? Just trying to see the reason for adjustment.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 2 жыл бұрын
When you start your machine in very cold weather, it is good to only run engine at 1/2 speed for a few minutes to warm the machine up letting the carburetor come up to temperature. Most people do not but It isn’t good to start any gasoline engine when it’s below freezing and run it at top speed as soon as it starts. That being said, they do make some snow throwers that only have full speed. Not good.

Hi Joe, I cannot give you advise on engines that I do not know the condition they are in. It doesn't matter who makes them. What matters is the condition of the internal parts and without a proper look at, there is no way of telling.

Really appreciate the video, well done. Question for you; this was the first winter with the 826 OHAE, it worked very well and the mobility was great, but it really wanted to pull hard to the right at times. Curious if you know why that is and if there is an adjustment with wheel traction that might help? Or is it a trade-off of the mobility? Thanks again!
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 2 жыл бұрын
Make sure both wheels are driving. Meaning, on dry ground, run the machine and engage the self propell drive, then try and hold the machine back while the wheels are trying to grab and go. If both wheels are gripping/pulling, then the drive is ok. If only one wheel is gripping/pulling then you need to lock your other wheel. Then it will pull straight and go straight in the snow.

Please make a video on replacing the 826 OXE CHUTE. Mine broke and I have to replace it. Even though it is "guaranteed for Life" Toro insists it be taken to a dealer for evaluation. I would have gladly emailed them a photo of the plastic break. Not acceptable to them. Cheaky!

Hi Charles, It sounds like you may have one wheel not locked in. There may be a locking pin on one of your wheels that is in a outside hole on the wheel shaft. You may need to me the locking pin to the inside hole and go through the wheel hub and wheel shaft to lock in the wheel so you have posi traction.

Here's a stupid question. Why start the engine at 75% rather then 100%? Strain on the motor I'm guessing?
@JohnsonsSmallEngines
@JohnsonsSmallEngines 3 жыл бұрын
Carburetors on a lot of small engines do not like to operate correctly especially in cold temperatures and need to warm up a bit to help the fuel flow. By starting the machines at 3/4 throttle they tend to stay running a little better and then you warm it up a bit before going full throttle. That is just what I do. Everyone has there own way. I think of if this way. When your car starts up most likely the engine will go into a higher idle mode to warm up but it doesn’t rev the engine to full throttle like mashing the gas pedal to the floor! I hope that made sense :) thanks for watching!!
