Patlabor, Tau battlesuits are labors. My sept will be named Pat´lab´ora. Black and white colour scheme for the suits and dark blue for the Fire Warriors. All Tau symbols will be substituted by golden chrysanthemums.

when I first started collecting Tau, it was very similar to what you suggested. I purchased 2 x tau fire starter sets. and then bought 2 x cadre fireblades and 1 x pathfinder set. I have buit up from there. :) I can not recall how awesome the manta strike is to anyone! saved my hide so many times. Normally run 1 x suit with burst cannon and 2 x suits with 2 x fusion blasters each. dropping in at 9inchs, just perfect! taken down any target in front of them, unless the dice gods do not like me. I also found that pathfinders are much cheaper marker light options than the drones themselves in terms of points and are looking at 7 marker light shots. and i always customize for either rial rifles or ion rifles :) I now like to run Tau like a horde army full of infantry based units :)

It's so refreshing to hear your first suggestion. Most people jump at the chance to tell you what you must take, but ultimately when playing a new army, if you're not excited by it, you're unlikely to want to bring it out again next time. Great vid man

@@goldy7514 You and me both, Haus. Love the rail rifle varients on every model it's a shame they don't get much table time. But yeah, I was first introduced into 40k by Dawn of War Dark Crusade and when Broadsides hit the map it was over!! I think I still like the shoulder mounted rail rifles over the gun arm of the new model but that's not to say that the gun arm model isn't bad ass. I have 1 xv8 broadside, I always take him as the Shas'vre. In my head he's a veteran of old wars and instead of a the new broadside he was awarded an iridium XV8 suit.

@@goldy7514 I was trying to debate for the best heavy support option and I prefer squads of 3 x broadsides all with heavy rail rifles with smart missile systems, I always run them in sqauds of 3 and guaranteed those 6 shots! They can take down anything, when I play at 1,750p i always run 9 broadside suits as mentioned above. I have never lost a game :)

Personally i like every broadside weapons combo fullmissle, rail+missiles, missiles+plasma, plasma+rail), event hought i prefer plasma +rail. usually i don't lack str5 spam i lack armor penetration and rail+plasma both give lots of high pen shots plus its the cheapest config.

You want the real way to get into 40k? Buy tabletop simulator for you and your buddy, it's like 40 bucks total. Import the models you want from the Steam workshop. Get your codes from the four channel 40k thread, just dig around, they have them all in a mega folder. Build your army and try it out digitally before you spend a shit ton on models you might hate playing.

I used to get curb stomped by everything with a pulse in 6th ed. I want an army that wrecks shop and makes Necrons cry. My problem is that I abhor Tau Sept. It's basic and formulaic. Check the boxes: Add specific HQ, add 6 Broadsides, a ton of fire warriors, 20 drones, and a Se'cea Ethereal; the mop the floor (so sayeth the tournament circuits). I prefer Bor'kan and Vior'la working synergistically. Ok you lose a turn of kauyon/montka, but nothing you can't get back with Sept abilities, markerlights and stratagems. Would LOVE to learn Farside Sept, but suits are too squishy to be as effective as I'd like them to be without spending hundreds on Forgeworld. Love your work. If i didn't work all the time, I'd offer you some competition. Show of respect.

Hi. I would love to see a video on making mobile Tau work, with Multi Devilfish, piranhas. I played a 1750 pt game against Custodes recently. Got my opponent down to 3 single trooper models at the end of turn 5 but still lost 7-4 on objectives. My list was the typical Tau sept with shadowsun, 2 riptides, 3 broadsides, 4 small firewarrrior teams, cadre, etheral and lots of shield drones. This kind of list is great to kill stuff but sucks at board control. I would like to see a move Viorla themed force with devilfish, breachers, stealth...etc.

I really gotta question your take on plasma on Crisis Suits. You always say something like, 'It's a niche weapon,' but I don't get that, I guess. It's Str 6, sure, but it's also AP -3. And a crisis suit team can drop down outside of 9 inches, which is also outside the sweet spot for fusion blasters, and double tap the plasma cuz you'll be within the sweet spot (12 inches or less) for plasma. That's 18 Str 6, AP -3 shots. I'm building a squad of crisis suits now, and you can pretty much bring an entire extra crisis suit by switching to plasma from fusion. Doesn't the additional wounds the extra suit brings and the now 24 shots you'll have with the plasma kind of offset the loss of fusion and it's higher strength shots?

The issue with plasma is that its damage potential is 2 while fusion has a damage potential of 6. We can get in depth with mathhammer but it's worth noting that a crisis suit with 3 plasma rifle deals a maximum of 6 damage. That's a bit irksome considering that crisis suits are somewhat of a glass cannons in most situations. You can use CnC node strategem to boost effectiveness of said build but really, that stratagem should be reserved for a riptide or broadsides. If you want staying power, opt for shield drones. That's 50 pts for 5 ablative wounds at 4+ invuln and 5++ FnP. Aside from Burst cannon riptides, T'au units generally shine the brightest when they specialise heavily in one area (mob clearing or tank/character hunting) and rely on other units to compensate for its weakness. Plasma rifle doesn't do that for me. This is just from my experience.

Tau plasma is str 6 while everyone else's is str 7. Tau's plasma is the worst plasma there is unfortunately.

I dont fancy markerlights on firewarriors personally, the shasui has terrible BS for the markerlight to hit. Also ML is a heavy weapon so move+shoot is unrecommended. Firewarriors can be mobile if you dont use ML's. Isn't 3 CIB + ATS better for a commander? /r/theydidthemath Having an ethereal around is also always an autopick for me, but I usually play at least 20 firewarriors, nowadays I try to get 30 in 5-man squads. Fireblade and/or marksmen is a good option for markerlights, however markerlight drones can be fun to play if you use drone controllers. My crisis suits usually go for the flamer route.

I take 4 full squads of Firewarriors. 2 strike and 2 breachers. Darkstrider and a Fireblade. 1 squad of Pathfinders And two rail head hammerheads Hardly optimized for competition but they are fricken fierce!!! Having a 6+ feel no pain with gaurdian drones really helps keeping your fire warriors on the board especially in solid infantry blocks I want to add some devilfish. Through unity devastation and Focused Fire really helps those pulse shots take down vehicles

It can be. You will have rely on vehicles or Pathfinders to get higher profile weapons. Drone turrets can only do so much. Try 2 boxes Pathfinders, 1 Start Collecting Tau Empire (breachers), eBay firewarriors, and 1/2 hammerheads. Eventually snag cadre fireblades and firesight marksmen, but you can just proxy model any firewarrior into one. For fun you can try mass sniper drones with firesight marksmen and a buffmander.

I got 3 fire warrior teams of 12 . 6 battle suits. 20 gun drones. 3 stealth suits. And need an hq. How will this fair on the table ? Never played tau. I'm more of an eldar/ork player.

Conventional wisdom will tell you to split everything up: Call one XV8 your commander with 3 fusions. Small strike teams with marker light Sergeants(shas'ui) 5 man crisis team with drones(shield or gun) Slap a homing beacon on the stealth suits to drop a crisis bomb in Danger Close on some priority targets. If you have left over drones, small gun or shield squads ( low leadership is the bane of drone squads)

Cadre fireblade will be a great force multiplier for fire warriors and the gun drones.

Fire warriors are pretty good against Guard and Orks, but you really need a Cadre Fireblade in there to effectively shoot a lot of Orks during overwatch. Another thing I would consider is a Coldstar Commander with 3 (or 4) Fusion Blasters or the Guard and ork players will just camp you out with Leman Russes or Loota's and laugh at you. (The coldstar has BS2+ and 40 inch movement!, with an advance). Final thing I would suggest is getting a Riptide or playing those gun drones as shield drones to boost your list's resilience. (But I suggest you do both).
