You really have a great outlook for your age (younger than me - 62). It’s taken me most of my life to “be happy with myself”. Thank you for putting yourself out there with your disease (I have UC), I have been comforted by your words many times! Keep your chin up girl / you are loved!

Humor is a really good tool especially when you have UC! Google image search "ulcerative colitis jokes" and you're guaranteed to have a good laugh!

Hello Emily, I just wanted to say Hello and to thank you for putting out the videos that you do. I discovered your channel from your ostomey bag video. I love how genuine you are. I dont suffer from U C but i have ibs w constipation and its a daily struggle and i also have severely bad teeth. I am in pain constantly between the 2 I am trying to find a dentist to work with me on getting dentures but its hard. No body so far wants to help. Its going to cost right at 10k for me to get teeth cut out and dentures. Being a single mom makes it really hard. But watching your videos makes my day better . Keep up the great work and i hope you are feeling better. God bless

You are beautiful inside and out. I have ibs and watching your videos helps me with my struggles and gives me perspective. Could you do a video on what led to your break-up and how you have dealt with that pain?

I tried to film one a couple weeks ago but it slowly turned into a hot mess because I was rambling! Haha that's a video I'll definitely need to plan out what I want to say but I will do it very soon!

Any advice for how to reach out for help with mental health stuff? Specifically being depressed or just in a season of struggle? Like how did you tell the person you told? I bottle my emotions up and struggle to be vulnerable. I also hate sounding like I'm complaining about my own problems when I know someone always has it worse than me, so I tend to keep it to myself. But as I'm sure you can understand keeping struggles to yourself is such a burden! Sorry for this long comment. Thanks Emily, I'm glad you are feeling better!😊

Question for the video: is there anything that “triggers” or makes you think of your experience with an ostomy? Like is there anything that someone can do / say that reminds you of those hard times? & thank you for this video!! 💞 you’re amazing & so so beautiful 💘💘💘

Hi I've a question. How do u cope with leaks did/do u get emotional over them and how do/you over come the emotions? Are we aloud two questions.
@EmilyParrisVideos7 жыл бұрын
So I'll answer the question about leaks and save your other one to answer in my next video! Dealing with leaks was never an issue with my first stoma. I only had one leak and it was because I was rushing and put it on while my skin was still kind of wet, so I knew what I had done. With my second stoma I leaked for the first two weeks 2-3 times everyday! I was going nuts! I was really overwhelmed and my stoma nurse didn't seem interested in helping at all. So my mom and I tried everything until we found a system that worked. I ended up changing my wafer every other day so I would avoid leaking and more skin breakdown. I hope this answered your question! If it didn't, let me know!

I am struggling with my UC , I was diagnosed 4 months after giving birth and I have found it all over whelming and just can’t shed the weight from the pred and had baby weight as he was 4 months or find something to help with my joint pain (from the meds) and wondered if there any tips tricks or advice ?
@EmilyParrisVideos7 жыл бұрын
I was pretty overweight while I had UC but mine was more from overeating because of my emotions than any medications. I understand that you have a 4 months old but eating right and exercising are CRUCIAL! More so the eating than the exercising! I plan to do a fitness video soon. I know that when you're sick and a new mom, time and energy are few and far between but it's important now more than ever to take care of yourself and get in good shape! Maybe try a "mommy and baby" fitness class!

Emily Parris I work at a gym and have been at it since 2015 and I got down to 70kg but unable to get lower at all I have busted my bum with exercise and I walk everywhere and still can’t get it off :-(
@EmilyParrisVideos7 жыл бұрын
I really like to do zumba! It's fun but also great cardio! Or you could try swimming since you're butt is hurting. Like I said, diet is the biggest factor! I recommend especially for having UC taking out red meat and dairy! Look up the doc. on netflix "What the Health" REALLY eye opening! Lots of fruits and veggies and sweet potatoes and avocados! Healthy fats, not junk food

Emily Parris i feel good with stoma i dont regret it, i have broplem with My rectum that why i have stoma now it dosent work so it must and there is so much pain when i go toilet. I must be go there 10 Time aday now with stoma have to empty it 2-3 Time aday. 🙂
@EmilyParrisVideos7 жыл бұрын
I had to do that too when I had a stoma but still had my rectum. Your rectum normally produces lubrication and mucus to help move stool through and even though you don't use it anymore, it still produces the lube and mucus so you have to expell it. It hurt for a long time to go to the bathroom until I got my rectum removed and now it's great!
