I have visited Santa Marta and surrounding areas and have never seen or encountered anything like the experience described here. I understand what happened, and it was an unfortunate situation. People need to keep alert and try to avoid walking alone in areas that look dangerous (use common sense). This advice is for any tourist anywhere in the world, including the USA. Santa Marta is safe and the area is very nice and beautiful.

Very informative! If I had only seen Alina’s video I’d be too afraid to ever try that path. With your and Camila’s tips I can see enjoying it in the morning when it’s less risky and cooler.

Thanks for your video. Just one tip: don't move the camera so much. It's really hard to watch it like this.

@ 2:08”…people who are unfortunately struggling and need to resort to other things like robbing people” REALLY!? How about they’re just PUNKS who have no morals and don’t care to cause harm to others. Please don’t justify criminal behaviors. Most people are struggling and are moral and try to find better ways to make a living. I have no sympathy for those who resort to violence and stealing from others 😡
