I’ve been gaining confidence and probably using steam meals the most now. I’ve recently made duck breast, rice and veg. Last night was sea bass, new potatoes and veg. My rice is doing ok at the bottom of the pot if I use 1.5x water but it is sticky. Fortunately that’s how my husband likes it. I wouldn’t say it’s overly sticky. I want to try the pot in pot method and something for my veg that’s not foil. I’m trying to find the right tin. Was looking at the all in one tin from ninja but it has holes in the bottom 🤷♀️ Thank you for all the work you put into these videos
@susannahskitchen11 ай бұрын
Thats interesting about the rice, maybe I'll try again with more liquid - thanks for the tip. Sometimes it just works better on the bottom but I do love how it comes out with the pot-in-pot method. What temp and timings and flavourings did you cook your sea bass, new potatoes and veg?
@leighfoster41711 ай бұрын
I will try the pot in pot method once I get something suitable. I did the potatoes on the bottom, cut into halves or quarters depending on size. I added 250ml of vegetable stock. I did veg in a foil parcel in the middle. I made a foil bowl for the sea bass and cooked it on the top in garlic butter. I did steam meals, 170 degrees Celsius for 9 minutes. If you make it let me know how you get on 😊

@@leighfoster417 it could be a channel recipe! Sounds fab

I've had mine for a little while but I found your channel because I'm frankly still a bit intimidated by it & not done a thing yet! Well, plus have to get over laziness too lol! I've done 3 layer steaming on a normal layered pan set on a cooker ring only in the past so far. Looking forward to using Ninja for broccoli & sprouts. They're my fave vegetables but due to having a very slow underpowered belling type cooker the last few years I used the microwave, but both those veg taste horrible & rubbery in that! One simple meal I used to do in manual steamer set was brown rice in bottom , veg of choice in middle & red or pink salmon on top of sometimes other fish, so while I'm learning I'll probably keep it that basic.

Good luck with trying different things. It's the only way to learn!

Hi Susanna, thank you for all videos. Can I ask where did you get the tray for the rice?
@susannahskitchen11 ай бұрын
Hi, this shallow one was from Tesco. It fits perfectly. Ninja do a good 3-piece set (link in video description below) it comes with a deeper round dish which is ideal for doing a larger quantity and loaf tin for cakes/bread etc and also a crisper plate.

@@susannahskitchen Will this work with rice on the ninja baking tin with crisper plate ontop with vegtables on it with the next rack to put protien on? Like will it all fit?

Hi your meal look so delicious ,my ninja foodi just arrived so new to me lol thinking if there is a possibility to do chicken legs and chips in the same time ??
@susannahskitchen10 ай бұрын
You could try STEAM AIR FRY - use the probe in the chicken until it’s cooked. You can open the lid to keep an eye on the chips. I’d soak your cut potatoes (chips) in a bowl of water for half hour, dry them off and coat with oil and any seasonings. Same with chicken

at some point it becomes easier to do it the old fashion way. looks like you are close to that. i would buy a rice cooker, if you do rice often.

If I make pot-in-pot rice I use 225g Rice and 200ml Water together then add 250ml of water in the main pot at the bottom

I didn't expect to see crispy chicken on steam meals, does the element on the top come on
@tasteful-attitude11 ай бұрын
it has a function that's called steam/airfryer. it makes very good hole chicken with the termometer. (book resepi)
@susannahskitchen11 ай бұрын
Don’t hold me to this but I think it’s a combination of steam and air frying convection hence the crispy chicken and colouring

Doesn’t matter what the vent is doing, only needs to be closed (seal) for pressure cooking

Note in below comment it should of course read salmon on top layer OR sometimes other fish! Stupid spell correct gremlins!
