hey, i had the same problem and solved it, turns out theres a double layer. try poking a hole through the 3m tape and peel only the cover

If you are buying any led lights make sure they have the red 3M vhb tape on the back they will never come off

what I've found is the cleanest way to mount on most surfaces is to take a super glue the one that comes with a brush and just lightly brush along the edges, it seems to come off clean later and never falls. Spray adhesive works on applications like under vehicles, works great and it covers a large area without damaging the car, otherwise super glue is clean and effective in most applications.

What would you suggest to stick a led waterproof strip to a car headlight a permanent fixture is fine I am finding the standard tape is not sufficient enough do you reckon epoxy resin would do the job?

We would suggest using a spray adhesive with a high bonding factor. This will allow for a much easier installation than any other method.

Epoxy resin is a soft yet water resistant substance that could be used to bond the light to the headlight. Normally you would find the light is fitted inside the case with the lamp. You would need to make sure the substance is clear to avoid any distinct marks that could be seen.

Depending on the bond quality I would assume more likely, yes than no.

I also have problems mounting LED strips inside a horsetrailer on glasfiber. As you can see in the video, at about 2:11, your strip is not glued all the way, but has gabs between the glue tape and the surface. The glue tape isn't very good at all.... Think it would be better, if I could get the strips without the glue-tape, so I could use the glue that I want, like "No more nails, waterproof"

I'm trying to apply this to fabric, but the glue on the adhesive on the strip is preventing the glue from adhering to it. Tried rubbing alcohol and fingernail polish remover to get rid of it, but it's driving me to the bottled alcohol.

Yeah. I've installed all kinds of lengths to all manner of surfaces, and the 3M adhesive is worthless.

i’m aware i’m 8 years late LMAO but mine took the paint & plaster off the wall in my old room, we’ve repainted my new one, plan to put the lights up soon. do you have any suggestions for things to stick the LEDs to the wall that WONT rip the paint off?? ty :)

Hi Liv! The best suggestion would be use Aluminium Profiles. These can be fixed to your wall using a set of brackets that nail into your wall and will be much neater than having your paint ripped off! :)

There is a thin piece you have to peel off. A lot of people accidentally peel off the sticky part, as well as I did the first time.

I can assure you the Led lights i have will not stick to the underside of my glass tv stand after a thorough clean with soap and water drying then cleaning again with methylated spirits. Would it be ok to just use sellotape as this seems to work

They should remain stuck to the surface you have them on for a long time, though this will also depend on the nature of the surface they're stuck to.

This has got to be the worst video ever , please assist me, I am trying to install this in any type of weather ex. snow , sleet , wind and this does NOT stick if you look at the TV you installed it on see the the bubble...... that's where it is already coming off from.....

Hi Tom, sorry to hear you're having problems with sticking your LED tape. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the adhesive will stick to every surface. I recommend taking off the adhesive that comes on the adhesive and adding some double side tape that you can get from a store. I doubt that you would even see this two years later but what the heck.
