I am fairly new to stitching. Even though I am a right-handed stitcher, I like your calm teaching style. Thank you for making these videos for those of us who are visual learners.

That was really helpful. Thank you. Now I know how to end the stitch at the bottom. I was never really sure. The option of doing it in a spiral is a game changer. 😀

Finally watched this and sat laughing at Merlin's antics😂. Pity you hadn't one of his treats to throw for him - but then you'd definitely be interrupted in order to throw it again! Good video. I've stitched open buttonhole fillers in Needlelace but wanted to watch you demonstrate it in the round. Thanks

Hello Merlin you sweet thing. I'm so glad you're helping. I love this stitch and I do believe that is the stitch used on that acorn cap we were talking about. I just don't know how it was attached to the covered bead. This could be one of my favorite stitches and it's totally new to me. Thanks. :)
@ArianeZurcher212
@ArianeZurcher212 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! This is exactly what she used for that acorn top. And if you look at the link you sent me, you’ll see how she starts it in the middle and then works her way up decreasing as she goes so that she ends at the top of the wrapped bead.

I can't remember but I have played around with different lengths, but one can always tie a little knot to add on a new length if you run out.

Have you done this on an irregular shape that bells out and then narrows? One of Sue’s Fresh Cut flowers is that shape and I found doing a double loop helped increasing over the belling of the shape. A bit hard to describe without a photo. Love your rapid stitching portions of the video Ariane.
@ArianeZurcher212

Thank you so much Sandi. I have done an irregular shape! On the cow that I show in the very beginning of the video, one of his spots on his right shoulder does that. It was a bit tricky, but I was able to make it work by decreasing and increasing. I just love the Open ButtonHole Filler stitch. One of my favorites!

Just brilliant, Ariane. I watched earlier today and have just spent a lovely morning stitching these two themes on the buttonhole stitch. Definitely found that maintaining and even tension was the key for me.....lol. Apologies if you've covered this already but I am still catching up on all your wonderful videos BUT can I ask how you store all your threads, especially the Sue Spargo Eleganza threads please? Is there a custom thread box by any chance? C xx
@ArianeZurcher212
@ArianeZurcher212 3 жыл бұрын
I've shown my thread "storage" system a couple of times, but you can see my latest by going to this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZPVpJ2trL6do9k I can't remember where I show all my threads, I think it's about 5 or more minutes in.

Ariane, you really are so kind. Thank you. I actually use the same transparent trays for my Distress & Oxide ink pads.... lol. I'm still catching up on your videos but actually saw one yesterday where you show the fabric case you made for your threads. Sure I'll come across a few more storage ideas as I continue to watch. My first Razzle Eleganza threads arrived yesterday and they are GORGEOUS. Might need more of those trays sooner rather than later at this rate...lol. Hugs & thank you so much again. C xx

@@oakhousejournals Yes! I have two Illium Bags to store spools and then those refrigerator trays that I love because I can easily see everything at a glance. I also use smaller "art bins" for my House of Embroidery Threads. I show those in a video too, just can't remember which video! ❤️

Beautiful ~ esp. the circular filler. Quick question: In the circular design, just eye ball when you think you should start to decrease? then do you decrease approximately the same place and you come around or at different places? I've been watching your videos, great job by the way, I find when you demonstrate it for lefties- I actually understand it better, I'm right handed BUT I do have severe dyslexia and because of my MS double vision! Thank you!
@ArianeZurcher212
@ArianeZurcher212 4 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad! I begin decreasing when the stitches look like they’re getting too dense. For the first round of decreases I did three, then four, and so on. By the end I was decreasing every other loop. I definitely eyeball it more than anything. It’s very forgiving, so chances are it will look nice even if you lose count or forget where you last decreased (as I do all the time!)

When doing the ladybug of whatever it was do your do the back stitch around the wing shape first? And when going down the wings at the split do you do each separate on both at the same time by going across to the other side on the back. Thanks
@ArianeZurcher212
@ArianeZurcher212 4 жыл бұрын
The diagram and Sue’s actual lady bug are slightly different, so do whichever one you prefer. Begin by doing a Backstitch following the shape of the wings. If following the diagram, begin at the top and then when the wings split off continue doing one wing to its end. End your thread, go back up to where you split off and do the other wing. If following Sue’s stitched lady bug - Backstitch each wing, then stitch each wing separately. Tell me if this helps!
