this was exactly what I needed to hear. I came to KZbin looking for advice as my partner is a fixer. after watching your video fully, I realised that a lot of people in my life are or were fixers, including me. thank you for your wisdom, I hope to share this with my partner too.

Right but the first thing that comes to my mind is "isn't always being there with your metaphorical trash can just another way of being a fixer?" It's like I just heard a "better way" or "more effective way" of fixing other people's problems. What really fucks me up is finding a proper line between setting boundaries and being there for those that I love. More often than not, I'm fuckin spoonless, man (spoons = mental/emotional energy). How do I give enough to feel like I'm being a good partner/friend/etc. but also set enough boundaries to keep my sanity?

It’s agonizing to listen to them …!! And if they could fix they own problems we wouldn’t have to listen to them.
