My friend gets bullied by an asshole in our class who keeps calling him fat. I try standing up for him but then they call me fat, once even poking fun at me being autistic. What made it worse, is a family friend I’ve known for years also joined. They laughed at the fat jokes, and even made a few jokes themselves. And I feel like nothing worked, telling teachers, telling them to stop (normally this would be followed with a joke at my expense) and even threats. When you are bullied it does extreme mental damage and you end up blaming yourself for it and start to think there is something wrong with you rather than something wrong with them. You don't end up growing up as a normal functioning person and you will end up struggling as an adult. It takes a lot of time to heal from the mental trauma and lots of therapy. There is a reason why many kids don't survive it and take their own life. It has to be stopped and taken seriously.

But then at the same time, just laying down in bed thinking about it, you technically need to see the reality. I agree; bullying is not okay. Yet, that doesn't seem to stop negligent teachers and parents from ignoring or condoning such behavior. Bullying can be prevented or even stopped when authority figures learn to take things seriously, and take responsibility to do the right thing in stopping bullies from preying on victims. But if they're stupid, incompetent, and just don't care, bullies are going to do just as they please. I was bullied at school. I'm a grandma now and I've forgotten a lot about school, but not my bullies. I remember everything about them. One day I lost it and I beat the worse one badly. I got into trouble, but I didn't care. They became afraid of me and I thought fighting was the answer. It wasn't. And bullies don't stop when you leave school either. Standing up to a bully is actually easy. All you have to do is question. Ask why do you act .like this? Why do you say that? And don't reply to their answers, just walk away. I learnt to draw, and kids liked my art. I got I with the other arty kids. I read books, and found other kids who were book lovers too. I found a reputation for fighting did me no good at all. But being among kids who liked what I did, made it better. I think you're not alone. I'm sure these mean kids have other victims, or there's kids who are lonely. This did almost nothing to help people with bullying, except at the very end, where it gives some trite, generic advice or assumes the bullied has a favorite teacher or someone to talk to. Largely it just identifies what bullying is, which is often not the problem. Also, in being publicly available doesn't this mean a bully could take the very general advice in this and reverse-engineer it to make it ineffective to the bullied, or even invert it all together? Imagine a bully antagonizing a student enough in subtle ways not caught by others, then having that student lash out in front of everyone and accuse that student of being a bully? That's stuff I've seen happen, and that would be nice to have a video which could teach, say, psychological ways of dealing with that.

With something like rumors and such its especially ugly, you have to confront people spreading it directly, get everyone you trust on your side, get authorities on your side if you're in school. Have your friends confront the lies when they are brought up. And even still, some people will still believe whatever they want. It's much easier to lie about people who are not there to defend themselves though. Though to acuse people of lying, you usually have to establish a motive. Usually with things that are not even another's bussiness saying they're lying to be an @$$hole is believable, as one could argue even talking about other people's business like such is an @$$hole thing to do to begin with. Suffice it to say, all situations are unique, and tactics and principles which work for a large number of scenarios won't work all the time. I was bullied, stalked, abused, all kinds of things. I learned this first hand.

What if tell the adult doesn't work, what if adult try to be silence, what if after adult punish the bad student then others try to exclude the informer, then the case getting worse. Sometime if lucky meet a right adult to tell, it would be a faster solution with no doubt. But sometime not. Many children they treat bullied by school. Some of those stay silence many year then get depression. Those children, have no Friends, no partner, even stranger do not help them. Classmate, teacher, sometime they cant help or after help but get more worse. Get more worse means ...bullying will be upgrade. And the true always happen is, Classmate , because they are also children, they scare to get too close with victim because they'll be worried that the fire will spread to them. Those victims, feel hopeless, helplessness. Stay silence....Not good. Tell a wrong person or handling in wrong way.....Not a solution. Sometimes, need some luck.
