Tips: 1. Make sure hair stays well moisturised 2. Avoid heat on hair 3. Trim hair only as needed 4. Don't put heat on dirty hair 5. Don't overlap on chemicals (eg relaxer & bleaching) 6. Alternate the positions you wear your ponytail 7. Don't use ponytail holder with metal clasp 8. Don't use manilla rubber bands 9. Sleep on satin or silk (satin bonnet, pillowcase, sheets) 10. Treat hair with TLC (comb gently working from ends to root) I'm guilty of wearing those rubber bands....Can't wait to hear the other tips!

using satin or silk ponytail holder is a way better option AND AND AND put conditioner on the hair before you take down any styles down so you get to detangle and condition at the same time. THAT saves a lot of time :)

Thanks so much for being detailed. Can you do a video on how to retain length and reduce breakage on your diabetic clients and clients with hypertension? It seems that once I had my last child at 35 , my system changed with both diseases mentioned above and my hair bc of the meds turned dry and brittle 😞. Any and all advice would be appreciated . I do protected styles. Remain Blessed.
@GetGlamFam6 жыл бұрын
For the hypertension, a huge part of it is going to tie back to diet. Blood pressure meds are known to cause shedding of the hair, so eating less salty food and getting more regular exercise goes a long way. The lower your dosage, the less the medication has that impact. Now for a lot of my clients on meds, I’ll do periodic clarifying treatments and then deep condition under a hair steamer to encourage more moisture. Also, if you sweat heavily in your head, try cowashing between shampoos. 👍🏽❤️

You’ve probably seen this already, but he talked about it a bit in the video he did about hair grease. The short answer was that it’s better to focus on supplementing holistically, because you want your whole body to be healthy, and your hair will draw and benefit from that. Plus, some of the more “specialized” supplements will have excessively high amounts of certain stuff and this can actually cause issues. Anyways, the vid will have his full words on it. And of course, consult your doc about stuff!

Do you have suggestion on shampoo and conditioner for dry and damaged hair
@doThatGWalk6 жыл бұрын
Tamiko Noel Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter for dry & damaged hair. I just bought a 19 oz from CVS. The shampoo works SO well & really moisturizes my hair. I can't say the same about the conditioner & I haven't tried the hair masque in a while but get a hair masque from shea moisture. The Manuka Honey one is very good from reviews but I can't use that one since I'm vegan. So far I've tried the Dandruff Control & Antibreakage one. I heard the 10 in 1 renewal or High Porosity one were great for moisture but they all are good IMO. Just get the shampoo & try a hair masque & use it every week. Deep Conditioning is important because I've had a lot of breakage from not doing that as well as detangling properly.
@GetGlamFam6 жыл бұрын
As far as shampoos go, I totally agree, the moisture retention shampoo from Shea Moisture is amazing! If your hair is damaged, I would mix the restorative masque and the high porosity mask and deep condition with that mixture. This way you can increase moisture and strength. Excellent suggestions!!

But sometimes the right ones to use have my hair wrapped on it. Why would that happen? I used to have a relaxer in my hair in awhile. What I mean is over a month right now it doesn't even look like it needs a relaxer or a touch up & I didn't put a relaxer in last month. Hi definitely need more info on the different areas of hair care. I have been told that I my hair is fine and that it holds water. I am not sure of hair density or porosity although I'm thinking that it may be hi porosity. I have transitioned from relaxing my hair for some time now and for a while now I've been getting my hair trimmed. At least since I think Mar or April of 2020 due to the pandemic I have not gotten a trim or a professional deep condition except late 2020 when I had wash and set w/deep conditioning w/o the trim in fact I just got my trim about a week ago from that time. I do my own wash and sets at home with conditioner but, I also am not sure of my hair type whether Ki am a 4 or 4c so it has been a lot with my trying different moisturizers for my hair. SHEA MOISTURE had a (milk or coconut milk and ARGAN oil deep container that I loved for my hair but, then all of a sudden I could not find it. I recall you saying something about not strengthening hair products when attempting to repair hair and I had picked up some products to try one of which is Shea Moisture Leave-in Conditioner for all hair types and also, which I haven't tried yet, Silk Elements Advanced Repair Vitamin E Leave-in w/ turmeric aloe and silk it was recommended when I went to Sally's beauty supply. I have been using Renpure shampoo and conditioner so I picked a Renpure coconut and vitamin E Leave-in cond - I picked up others, (not ur mother's naturals-Royal Honey & Kalahari Desert Melon; Pacifica-coconut milk detangle elixiir; Eenpure- Apple Cider Vinegar Clarify and Shine SCALP SERUM Pure zero mousse and TGIN-Green TEA SUPER MOIST LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER) so I got these prod.. to see which would be the best w/o actually testing them all. I want to make another point but, I must pause for now. Thank you so much for the in*put as it is much needed.some. have to pause f

I agree with the multivitamin piece, I would also recommend diffusing clary sage essential oil, or applying it with a carrier oil topically to the abdomen daily. You can also add a bit of clary sage and rosemary oil to your shampoo and conditioner. Both are naturally shown to help thicken and increase hair growth. Outside of that, try to be patient and not to put tons of chemicals and such in your hair right now. As your hormones balance out, the shedding slows. I plan on doing a whole video on postpartum shedding, so stay tuned for that as well 😉

GlamFam do you apply the essential oils while pregnant? And when and how often? Is there risk of miscarriage?

I had some health issues that caused my hair and skin to become extremely dry. My hair was literally breaking off and falling out at the root, I lost about half of my thickness (not exaggerating). I am finally getting it healthier and it’s starting to grow back in. My hair is unmanageable and poofy, it’s not curly but not straight. It’s just an afro. I’ve been straightening it every day since I was a teenager and obviously that is very damaging. I’ve been looking into Japanese straighteners and wondering if in the long run that would keep my hair in better shape? Brazilian blowouts just don’t help enough and they are damaging my hair. Is Liscio one of the more gentle systems? Any advice? It takes an hour just to flat iron, blow drying takes at least 30 minutes. I’m sick of planning my life around my hair and even more so with my health issues, I need it to be easier!

With conditioning Your locs, add a bit of water to the conditioner so you don’t end up with build up in your locs! It really makes a huge difference!

Hello i love your videos. I learn so much from them. I have a question. My hair just started falling out long strands and i havent relaxed it in over 10 months and my hair grade has gotten thinner. I dont know why? Last week i had braided my hair for 3 days and moisturised it and when i took them out i had a sore itchy scalp and scabs. I dont know what the heck i did but things turned upside down for me and need something to heal my scalp. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with hair care. I have a question about wearing wigs? My hair is natural with combination soft wavy around nape of neck, curly back afro american crown,. I am in menopause no meds just vit d calcium seems hair growth is so slowww. I am looking for healthier hair style. Braids are painful so I don't do that often, currently wearing mini braids. However it doesn't look professional since it is short right about ear length. Any suggestions. Thank you!!! Monica D

Can someone explain to me how to help breakage, NOT split ends? I am looking for help how to decrease the breakage in my daughter's very curl hair without losing length. I've been told do a "dusting" but (my thoughts) If the hair has breakage the whole strand of hair is shorter than your length, how does cutting it help? Don't you just end up with an even shorter strand of hair that will stick out and look frizzy just like it did before just at a shorter length? My daughter has very curly hair and it's very long, I don't want her to lose her length but I'm not sure what to do about it. She has a lot of breakage, my fault for not getting trims enough but trying to figure out where to go from here. Any help appreciated!

So I guess my ten years of wearing a low ponytail 99% of the time was not good 😢 (After being on a ventilator for one week and in the hospital four weeks, my hair was falling out so much that I was just trying to handle it as little as possible. And even after it stopped falling out, depression and burnout didn’t help matters) But now that I just retired, I’m looking forward to taking better care of myself and my hair! Thanks for the hair tips!

Hey there, I hope this is the right place to ask? What do you think about texturizer? I had such nice hair in it’s natural state. However, since I did The Fast 800 diet, which is high in protein and Mediterranean foods for the last year, my hair went brittle and had severe breakage. Despite moisturising. I went to my stylist and she revived my hair with, trimming, shampooing, deep conditioning, steam treatment. After straightening with blow drying and using steam powered straighteners. I like the idea of going from straight to curly when I want especially as I like to swim in the summer. Apart from hair dye with no alcohol. I’ve had no other process in 9 years. Sorry this is so long.

Would hair dye cause permanent damage and breakage occurs no matter what you do? I have full lace wig that was dyed by the supplier. Now it’s breaking badly during washing no matter what I do and how good moisture product I use. Any suggestions? I swear this dye just stripped the cuticles so badly it’s no longer any suggestions? Thank you!

You were talking about wool being a rough surface, and suddenly I found myself thinking "wool is a type of hair, does it have a cuticle?". Maybe that's why it's so rough on hair, because you have cuticles from wool rubbing in the wrong direction of your own hair cuticles, causing breakage and knotting. And then more breakage when your comb out the knots.
