Have your opinion on something, cool, you’re entitled to but don’t be out here, trainer bashing and just telling people what they should do with their dog and who to avoid because that’s just annoying af. If you knew and actually cared about the ‘last chance at life’ dogs that this trainer and his team have literally saved the lives of, you’d keep your BS to yourself. So many of his clients are people who went to positive only trainers and they actually made their dogs worse and he’s He actually trained a lot of them cases FOR FREE because of how much money the owner is rinsed of by force free trainers. He goes to animal rescues and helps the ones less likely to be adopted to find forever homes. He even took a dog home himself on one of the last times. You act like this bloke sticks prong collars on any dog, he doesn’t. He uses training tools that are right for each, individual dog. He doesn’t recommend anything but a harness or a flat collar for dogs under 6 months either. He finds what works for each dog. A lot of positive only trainers will recommend a dog be medicated or even pts before they admit defeat with a dog that they personally can’t train when they should just admit a dog needs a trainer like Adam. Also, just so you know, ANY tool, used wrong can cause harm. Just chucking treats at a dog makes them overweight and can cause them harm too 👍

@@ollypebble don't let it get to you. Many careers are all about learning. Professional programmers are always learning just as teachers are always learning. You get to become professional when you know a lot and have certifications on a topic but just because you know a lot doesn't mean you're going to know everything. There's many ways to get the sum of 100 but someone with extreme interest might only know of twenty ways. And a professional might know 60 ways. There's still a huge gap for people to learn. There's many programming channels I watch that claim they hit a plateau once they realize how much they don't know. Dunning-Kruger effect: The more you learn the less you realize that you know.

Our doberman is on "pull like fk" mode and it doesn't matter how many times u hold him back or stop, we've been trying what this video suggests for over 3 weeks now, 6 walks a day 7 days a week, so, it's not as easy as people think/say it is. Have you tried a long leash, walking in less busy areas and capturing attention? The method in the video can be kinda frustrating for some dog-human-teams and in certain situations. For the human and the dog. Which causes a bad mood, a dog who wants to escape or do his own thing etc. For some people it can also help to teach via R+ first so that the dog doesnt become totally confused and frustrated by their own confusion. Its helpful to have a command that they can fall back into when they are overwhelmed. Have you tried it for a month only in your backyard or in the front of your street? Certain environments can be easier to establish it in. Have you tried to add treats? Have you tried without leash pressure, but only spatial pressure? I mean I suppose that you have, but if not, maybe you could restep to that. Some dogs are so energetic, they get outside the door and their mindset is all whoozy. I do not have such dog, not to such an extreme, I can only say what helped with my Beagle. A Doberman is much more extreme, I know that. But it cant hurt to share this, can it? Also - Good that you said that it isnt that easy. Sometimes videos built false expecations (albeit helpful!) By accident. Even with all I mentioned above, my dog isnt 100% clean. But he isnt supposed to since he is a living being. He's become nice enough to walk with most of the time though.

My Great Dane is not a heavy puller on quiet environment. But as soon as he has a goal (mates or smells), he pulls. I can do this 1009x times, I did it for month but he doesn’t want to understand. Going in a quiet park with a 10m long leash, giving him freedom, he doesn’t pull and follows me, staying close to me without any orders… he kept next to me also on the way back. This might help. Give him controlled freedom, encouraging him everytime he’s next to you, with or without asking, and walk randomly. When he’ll understand being next to you is worth it, and that the leash is not a punishment, you can shorten the leash. The problem of this video, it will help some dogs for sure, but not all of them think the same way. He pulls, you stop, you continue: he can understand it’s ok pulling because even when he stops, he goes wherever he wants… maybe your dobbie just needs to make his own choices.

It's not a good technique that's why. First teach leash pressure and use a slip lead or well fitted high herm springer prong collar, start training heel and use high value treats, you can use the 360 technique where if they start pulling spin around with them and make sure they're by your side, or you can correct them if they pull

@Hugsnkisses Usually that means the dog is already full of pent up energy before the walk, every dog is food motivated, you have to build engagement though for stubborn dogs, start hand feeding him his meals and before walkd have a play session with him or let him do a puzzle that's slightly difficult, you can do a diy dog mental stimualtion puzzle or buy one online or at a pet store. If he's already overstimulated on a walk and you never taught him "focus" or you don't have any engagement with him, it's never going to get better. Also if he's choking himself, put the collar higher up and make sure it's well fitted, it seems like it's too low on his neck if he's choking. Getting a wider collar or a real herm springer prong collar would be much better and safer, remember though if you do use a prong, condition him to it first and only use very small corrections.

@Hugsnkisses Also try using raw food as training treats instead of store bought dog treats or cooked chicken. Buy freeze dried raw treats, maybe chicken heart or freeze dried beef liver, they're super smelly and dogs absolutely love it. My Bull Terrier is the most stubborn dog I've ever trained out of the more than 30 dogs I've had and trained, it took years to figure out what works for him. All the treats I got didn't cut it, I built engagement and used raw treats and his raw food as training treats on walks.

Just so everyone knows, for many dogs, the amount of time for them to realise that they need to back off and put slack in the system in order to move again can at first be a very long wait. Don't say anything to them. Don't pull back on the dog. Literally just wait them out each and every time and instantly move forward if there's any slack. And within a few minutes, they'll really "get it". Later, if they forget in a few days, don't forget to stop again. Wordless, no judgemental, no punishment. Just get them to realise that the result from pulling = human stops moving.

@@Bryce54 been watching other videos on ways to help me with her pulling a lot. Found one that said that the second the dog starts pulling in a direction, you gotta go/pull to the opposite direction (or any random direction really) and just walk that way, until the dog kinda learns to be attentive on when the next turn is gonna be and match your movement (idk if it makes sense, but it has helped a bit).. other than that, one of the best things I've purchased to help is a halter, but you gotta make sure you get a good one depending on the breed (it can be tricky with dogs with flat faces). She's still pulling, but it's really not as strong, so it helps when it comes to trying to avoid getting my arms torn appart 😅. I learned that using treats is very tricky, so I would avoid using them when walking my dog (my dog would just pull over and over again and then once in a while stop pulling just to get a treat as if I was a vending machine). Finally, a very good trick is to tire the dog before going on a walk by playing with them with a toy, cause then they can have a bit less energy. Can be a bit difficult at first, but it helps. You can just go to a nearby park, bring a toy, play with the dog and then when you go on a walk, they can be a bit more attentive and less eager to be the one taking you on a walk!

Plus the halti is just a tool to put the problem at bay and doesnt actually stop the dog from wanting to pull. Switch the halti to a normal collar again and watch the dog pull you like before. Im talking from experience and im struggling with this myself.

I have trained horses all my life and have helped people with their dogs at times too. I know dogs aren’t horses and obviously have different ways of communicating etc, but very similar in the sense they have to be listening to you rather than pre emoting things themselves, and it’s also all about trust and knowing the individual animal and it’s ‘quirks’ and working through them with them. I did this with my cane corso puppy when I was 15, I’d come home from school take care of the farm animals and then get treats and take Dexter out on a walk. It took time, patience, and hard work but it was so worth it in the end. He was incredibly well behaved and when he started to show small signs of good aggression we immediately dealt with it, we trained him to wait for the command to eat his food. I slowly would put my hand him his food bowl so that he got used to it, I’d even take small scoops of his food while he ate. Of course rewards for zero aggression followed. Truthfully I had fun training him, I miss him so much but the man who owns him now was beyond impressed with his training so I’d say I’m pretty proud of my pup ❤

Omg. I just got a pitbull that owner had to get rid of. He was awesome at walking for first few days until my husband walked him and let him pull. Now he pulls so hard he drags me. Which has caused him to be on alert as well and growling and whining at other dogs. He didn't do this at all before. He was calm. I have looked at other videos and don't have a corrective collar. My Staffy pup is improving MASSIVELY over the last few days simply by utilizing some tips I’ve found on KZbin. I am desensitizing her to fast motorcycles, loud cars, big trucks. Stick with it and don’t get frustrated y’all, you took on the challenge of owning the dog so don’t take your frustrations out on your lovely little beast.
