I have anxiety at night sometimes everytime I have something planned like a trip or a job, etc. even sleeping over my girlfriends house. I get the shakes nonstop, the nausea, etc. I can’t sleep or if I get lucky I’m able to force myself to sleep while shaking. I hope one day I won’t have to deal with this thing that makes it hard to enjoy life…
@DemiTri-rv5vq8 ай бұрын
@unodakine632 You have to know that everyone on earth gets panic attacks a couple times a year, and everyone feel so nervous & be shaking the day before traveling or doing something new because simply it's something that's out of our comfort zone, The thing that will definitely help you during those times is to remind yourself that fear is made to keep us surviving and traveling somewhere won't kill you it's indeed gonna help you rewind. So no need to panic ( Ik it's not easy ) but ignore all the stupid ideas and BREATHE. Work focus on breathing, Try to calm yourself down by focusing on things around you, name them ,their colors, count em , or play mindfulness meditation in bg , Don't act as if the panic isn't there just accept it , feel it, and remind yourself that it will pass , and breathe, day by day your body will react less to those panics until they are finally gone or reduced. You're not Alone Buddy. ( also try to sleep early because by my experience when I stay up until midnight sleep doesn't hit me anymore and I start panicking because The brain never stops thinking and overthinking) lately I started understanding that I catastrophize the thoughts, I worry to death about something , and I be certainly sure it will be the worst, then? then when I'm really facing the truth, the worry was never worth it, Going of of your comfort zone is scary and stressful, but it's worth it , it will cure a lot of your anxiety, facing anxious situations with time will make you worry less and thry will appear less scary each time . I wish you all the best , And one thing, You're gonna be fine Trust me.

Spot on, mate. This is what I taught my daughter a few years ago when she was suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. It's understanding what is happening to you and not what you THINK is happening that helps. When you lose the fear of anxiety attacks, they just fade off. The human body is a lot stronger than we're thinking. Our hearts can beat fast and hard for hours...it won't kill us. If you're of average health, nothing will ever happen. Always good to get a general check over with the doc if you can. I was agoraphobic when i was younger...i wish i knew then what i know now. It's just the body's way of protecting yourself...but you're imaging the 'threat'.

These really helped my anxiety panic disorders when going to sleep especially using listening to your hypnosis and affirmation candles before going to sleep. However, whenever I wake up I get the anxiety symptoms (high blood pressure, heart rate and no appetite) in the morning and like one step away from a panic attack. How do we stop those in the morning? And any tips to help with that?
@TheAnxietyAttic Жыл бұрын
It sounds odd but the safety behaviours you do in the days before is what puts the body into a high state of alert so as soon as you wake up the body releases adrenaline and cortisol to face a dangerous world. (hence the increase heart rate) I noticed you mention your blood pressure which I assume means you are monitoring it. This will increase the state of alertness. Once the anxiety comes there is little that you can do other than let it pass as any attempt to fight, suppress or avoid it just makes it fight even harder. The secret to beating anxiety is working out which behaviours are causing this high state of alert and gradually reducing them. Over time the anxiety will reduce but unfortunately there are no quick fixes.

Martin, I just wanted to say as a long time suffering of anxiety disorder and having high functioning Autism, it has been difficult for me to process, grasp, and understand a lot of the same advice you're giving, but from other therapists and counselors due to the shear fact that I process things completely differently than people who aren't on the spectrum. The way you explain not only what I should do to help my anxiety disorder, but more importantly - how it works and how to use that same knowledge to my advantage to treat it in a scientific/fact based manner. For me personally, I like to think of the brain as a complex machine that one must have some basic fundamental understanding of its inner workings, in order to "fix" it. Not too different from the fact a car mechanic, for example, needs to know how an automobile works to be able to properly repair cars. You've helped me more than any therapist I've seen, even ones I paid money for, and for that I am seriously going to share your channel to anyone else I know who suffers from anxiety disorder in hopes it helps them too. Keep it up!
@TheAnxietyAttic Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great feedback. Im so glad my videos are helping you. I think the machine analogy is a good one. Understanding how the brain works is really important. When I used to counsel people the first couple of sessions would be dedicated to helping people with anxiety understand how the anxiety part of the brain works.

Yes it will pass, and yes indeed I find that behaviors is the key thing that drives anxiety, but is it the "root"? I also truly believe that anxiety is also stored in the body, not just the brain. Past or current traumas - even relatively mild stress - pile up and get stored in the mind and the body, and for me I found body-based work like qijong, yoga or just somatic experiencing helps "release" these stored emotions. This goes hand in hand with addressing the behaviors and can reinforce each other and help me let the positive stuff sink in and last while letting go of the negative.

good morning from Romania. I also suffer from anxiety for about 3 years, my anxiety is strange, I always feel like I'm having a heart attack. I went to the cardiologist doctor and they said that there is no problem with the heart. but I still feel all the time that it's stinging, that my chest hurts, it tightens, I feel tense. I don't sleep very well at night. does anyone else suffer from this? to always sting in the chest. please tell me.

My symptom has been feeling like I cannot catch a deep breath. I have had this on and off for 30 years. It comes on for no reason sometimes and I cannot figure out WHY this happens when I am not anxious--- the minute I start to feel it though, I get scared and breath even deeper. It is a vicious cycle.
@hgc022011 ай бұрын
My anxiety attacks usually happens when I'm overly exhausted or lack of rest during the day or sometimes if it's super humid. It was scary. My physical symptoms are lightheadedness, feeling hot, restless and body pains. I can somehow control my palpitations by resting, listening to soft music.

Thank you thank you thank you! My health anxiety affects my digestion and was always wondering if taking antacids would be a safety behavior. I could never find the answer in the anxiety books I read. I really appreciate your videos and I am becoming more optimistic that I can reduce my anxiety in the future.
@TheAnxietyAttic8 ай бұрын
The best way to work out what is a safety behaviour is to ask why are you doing it. If you are taking the antacids because reflux is causing you pain then its not a safety behaviour. If you are taking it to protect yourself from some feared event then it would be a safety behaviour. (e.g. taking antacids because of an illogical belief that it lessens your risk of oesphagus cancer)

It’s interesting that I came across this right now. I was led to it searching for airplane anxiety relief. I have PTSD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder that I’ve dealt with most of my 49 years. Last year it started getting so much worse to the point I can hardly leave my house. Feeling “stuck” anywhere triggers UNBELIEVABLY UNBEARABLE panic attacks like never before. For instance being “stuck” on a plane, a boat, even a simple kayak trip is a nightmare once I let go of land and become surrounded by water. Heat has become a bad trigger. I’m sitting in front of a fan as we speak and spent $70 on a personal air conditioner that hangs around your neck to take on a plane trip I have to go on in a week. I’ve started having to even take ice packs on short trip in the car cause my ac is broke and in Florida it feels like I can’t breathe when I get hot. I will literally almost pass out! My life has become unbearable! 😢 and I don’t know how even with xanax I'm going to get through this upcoming trip. wish I'd seen this info sooner!

The problem I've always had with panic attacks is they're atypical in that they don't revolve around a specific symptom. My psych doctor once asked me to describe what my attack felt like and I really couldn't point to any specific symptom other than light nausea and maybe a knot in the back of my neck.

The only thing I know how to do is not let my anxieties stop me from doing what I need to do. No matter how bad I feel after the fact. I know the symptoms will pass but I'd obviously love to be done with them. The only thing that seems to work though it takes time is Exposure therapy. It's great because my brain loves to find new things to make me anxious. Even things so routine and trivial that it boggles the mind how they started becoming triggers for anxiety. Something as simple as taking my dog out and picking up after him has started to trigger the lump in my throat symptom and I don't know why. I'm not grossed out by this. I've had cats and dogs in my lfe since I was born and I've had plenty of experience cleaning litters and picking up my dogs "Gifts". So, why is this triggering attacks now?!? Who knows, but I keep doing it. No matter how uncomfortable it makes me and hopefully I'll find myself doing it one day and I'll have no reaction to it at all. I swear, what ever model brain I ended up with needs to be recalled. This things got more bugs in it than a PC Pirates hard drive. Hell, just last month, looking up at the sky was triggering my anxiety. The hell is wrong with me. I never could have imagined in a hundred years that THESE things would be fertile ground for anxiety attacks.

Ok, so I have a diagnosis of Generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agrophobia and health anxiety. I've had over three years of CBT, a lot of other counselling, therapy and I take medication. After all of the therapy I've had nothing jas changed. The only thing that has helped me is a change in medication. I was feeling a lot better and I was starting to go out again. I started driving again. Then on Friday the symptoms started again, now I'm back avoiding everything that might trigger the panic and anxiety. CBT did absolutely nothing for me, I'm still terrified of my symptoms, I still have all of my safety behaviours and once again, thank you I'm not going out. Tell me please what else I can do to?

As I follow these steps my anxiety/panic is getting better but I feel sad and depressed, and I read it is a by product of anxiety. Is this true? I really understand the fear of being scared of not waking up, and the overwhelming sense of my whole body, and can't breathe properly. Having to prop myself up, as I can be too frightened to lie down. You're most definitely not alone in this. Like my brain is losing control, then my breathing, and my heart rate. I am extremely self aware, and unfortunately this makes my anxiety a bit worse. Yesterday I had an amazing day and then got into my car to drive and with reason I could identify my hands got clammy, my eyes started shaking, my stomach dropped, and my muscles hurt so bad. In my head I know this is a physical anxiety response but I also wasn’t mentally anxious. I started getting mentally anxious when I began to use my coping strategies, I took deep breathes, counted things I could see and hear ect. But nothing worked it takes me about 30 minutes to anywhere up to 3 hours to get out of the feeling. I’m usually rather extroverted and bubbly so this anxiety thing has been freaking me out. What can I do if my physical symptoms over power my mental symptoms? Or do I just have to ride it out every single time, my anxiety attacks are also usually always out of the blue with no trigger which makes it so much harder to identify why it’s happening. I’m getting anxious now just thinking about not being able to stop myself from being anxious, I also do not want to go back on meds for it. Any advice?
@TheAnxietyAttic6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately a lot of coping strategies that people with anxiety use make the anxiety worse. Breathing interventions is a common one. I talk about it in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4LaoJl-jbVsn5I You are correct about riding out the symptoms because anything you do to try to stop them reinforces the belief that there is something wrong which makes the anxiety worse and keeps the anxiety cycle going. Im not sure if you are describing anxiety attacks or panic attacks but if its a panic attack this video explains why they seem to come out of the blue kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5mYmGaAdqiooc0

Yup had mine back in 2020 and that's how it began for me as well. Still going through it now but the only thing that somehow makes me feel better is the power of positivity and I know that it isn't always easy to just be positive especially when you are in the thick of it but positivity has helped me a lot throughout this health anxiety journey. You just have to keep the faith and really truly believe that you will heal or are already healing. It takes a lot of brain power but you can get there if you really want to. I'm trying all sorts of different things in order to get better and all I can say is consistency is key. You have to put in the extra work but it will all be worth it in the end. You just gotta believe in yourself even if others don't ✨️ 😌 you only have YOU at the end of the day.

I have symptoms of heart palpitations and shortness of breathe but I'm fine, nothing is bothering me, I don't have anything to worry about. I've done to the doctors for lung infections and heart problems but i am all clear. The doctor there mentioned it was all in my head, or mental issues related to anxiety but I just dont believe that because I don't have anxiety.
