Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done. The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. In life, people tend to wait for good things to come to them. And by waiting, they miss out.

I like the definition that procastination is basically the fear of doing something because it so important. I find the things that are most important to me take me so long to do and it always makes me feel so guilty that I put them off and it's because I'm so afraid that in the end I might fail. Knowing that procastination is a form of fear helps me come to terms with it alot more and it feels like...I'm not the only one who feels that way. I don't know about other people but when I know I'm not the only one feeling something it makes me feel like I'm in it with someone else even if I don't know them...and the thought of having that "togetherness" makes me feel so much stronger. Does that even make sense?
@ohpinkiepie7 жыл бұрын
Giselle La Chatte It totally does! I feel the same way about it. Today I decided to take a baby step and to finally start planning my dissertation that I’ve dreaded to think about for the whole summer break lol. I think planning it out will help me to stress less and to not put it off till the last few days before deadline 😅 To some people creating this “atmosphere” to get you started seems stupid but I really cannot do it other way.

I just got about an hour's worth of work done on a project I haven't touched for about 2 weeks because I watched this video right before. Thanks for helping me to focus. I'm listening to the deep focus playlist you suggested. Also, after you spoke about doing "baby steps" it made me want to make a bullet-pointed list of every tiny baby step I needed to do to finish the project so I would have the satisfaction of checking off each one. I'm happy to say that I've completed about a fifth of the baby-steps task list, within this last 60 minutes! Thanks again for putting this video out there.

Hello Aileen, my name is Stephanie. Last night, when I had had enough, enough of the rut I've been in, enough of my inability to properly organize my thoughts and enough of my lack of strength, to fight the urge to procrastinate, I cam across your channel.. I've watch about 4 or 5 different videos and they have all struck a chord with me. I want to thank you! I'm amazed at the effect your videos have had on me in this extremely short amount of time!! So, thank you for creating your channel and posting these videos, you are definitely making a difference in the world 🙂!

I feel like for some people procrastination might come from feeling overwhelmed by a certain task and not being able to do it on your own. Then it is important to recognize that we might need a little help to get ahead, which is totally fine and everybody should be open to admit that. So then the first thing might be finding that person or group that can maybe redirect our thoughts or help structure something with us. Just a little addition :) Loved the video💌
@Kisarhi7 жыл бұрын
I love the deep focus playlist! ⭐️ I find that procrastination can sometimes happen due to poor habits. Over time, I've established better routines so that I don't even think about avoiding a task. Every morning when I wake up, my first hour of the day is dedicated to doing my KZbin work. Then, after my day job, I come home and do at least another hour. It's become a part of my routine and a daily habit that I do without resistance. Plus, I regularly check in on my 'why' and my purpose for doing what I do. This keeps me aligned with the reasons behind why I need to put in the work! This is a reminder to myself to stay on task and keeps me motivated, especially on days when I feel too tired or lazy to do anything ❤️

I love, love music but for some reason it hinders my productivity big time lol. For example, I can’t listen to any type of music when I’m trying to study, even if it’s just instrumental, and complete silence is just too boring, so what I’ve found really helpful is listening to coffee shop background noise. The 7hr vid called “Coffee shop murmur sounds” is my favourite because I can’t make out what anyone is saying so it doesn’t end up distracting me. Similarly, listening to a podcast/audiobook instead of music when I’m doing chores seem to make time go by a lot quicker and I’m also learning something new at the same time! :)
@lavendaire7 жыл бұрын
Aimee B oh interesting! For me, I can’t listen to music with lyrics or else I’ll start singing along or get distracted haha. The music has to be soft and instrumental.. not exciting beats or I’ll start dancing 😂

I experienced that feeling again last night. Just too lazy and discouraged to do anything while so many things were waiting for me. But only one message from my best friend studying abroad in Korea like raised me up in the middle of night. That's really amazing. She just told me to go there and have fun with her. And that turns to be the strongest motivation I've ever felt in my whole life. Then this morning I stop procrastination and try hard on my stuff. I think the motivation from one special person is incredibly important.
@haileybelle64147 жыл бұрын
I love how you describe procrastination! The fear of doing something because it is important, and then the fear of failure. One thing that helps me to stop becoming distracted and procrastinating is to keep a piece of paper or notebook beside me and if I need to, jot down things that are distracting me or that I need to do, or would like to do. Then I know that I can explore whatever it is I wanted to do later, and get back to the task at hand! :)

Thanks for sharing! My recommendations based on many fails is to: 1. Become aware of what you do - apps that tracks activity - habbit tracker 2. Ask yourself some questions like: - Why you don't do what you specified? - Is there any fear associated and maybe that's why you procrastinate? 3. Be specific (time & location). For example: I will read for 10 minutes at 7:00 am on my couch. This helped me :)

Thank you for this! Almost like your tip about putting up a timeframe, but not really. Instead of the "goal" of continuing after those 30ish minutes, I give myself "working hours", or more specifically an ending time. Like "After 4pm I dont work, and weekends not at all". To promise to actually do something is too much for my fragile procrastinative being. But I can promise NOT to work. And the result is that I actually DO work instead of postponing, and free my mind for other things on weeknights and weekends! Saved my life, and got me out of acadimia induced anxiety!

Haha I totally recognize the "motivating yourself in your journal"! I also started with morning pages just to clear my mind before work, and after a while it naturally became things like "OK, when I'm at work, I just have to do this and this, and then I can be proud of myself! And then when I'm home, I can work on my video! Yes, I can do it!" :D I enjoyed the video! You go in depth, but not too much. :) As for tips, I only have one video about productivity for now, but it's a bit in the same theme. I think most tips are different, so I think complements well with your video: it also has some tricks on reducing resilience. I hope it can help someone! :)

I always try to take that baby steps as you said, by allocating baby times...and telling myself that I will do this bullsh*t only for next 10 minutes... and strengthen it by telling myself that "forward is forward"...If I can run on "fast-forward", it is far better to move on "forward" rather than being "paused" or "stopped". The second thing that I prefer to do is to have a power nap before any prime project so that my RAM goes clear (like the computer) and then I am not at all distracted on the other stuff that happened throughout the day till I started the power nap. While napping, I prefer to have 20 min on it so that I will not enter into the full 90 mins sleep cycle and thus my performance and time allocation will remain optimized. And definitely, digital detox helps to stay focused as I am doing now.

Visualize your self working before you actually work and write that vision down on paper to have it sink in deeper ... loved that idea 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Now that I think of it, take action is the hardest part! I always procrastinate to exercise. The easiest next step is to get out of bed. 💪

I love you so much. this is a wake-up call i'm in final year in college and this is super true. I've been doing this procrastination of a thing and this helps me so well..overthinking or stress is really bad and never lets you do what you need.. i dont journal but i meditate and mentality draw a map of what i need to get done

Thank you for this. You're right! I do self pep talks before squash tournament matches, but it never occurred to me to do them to avoid procrastinating.
