The biggest cause for procrastination is social media. You end up loosing so much energy and time in doing random stuffs that you actually end up not doing what's needed. So being concious of where and how we spend our energy and time will save you.❤

I disagree! We didn't have social media, smartphones, or fast internet in the 90s, but I always found creative ways to procrastinate. That usually involved watching TV or playing Super Nintendo. I suppose things haven't changed much, but I guarantee that the internet has exacerbated pre-existing issues. I think the key is self-regulation, and having the self discipline to stop doing something when you know you have higher pressing priorities.

Two reasons I procrastinate. 1. I won't start a large task or job till I know that I have the energy and mental capacity to finish it to the end once I start it. 2. This one has been with me for projects in high school and college. I am a perfectionist, so if I give myself too much time on something, I will overwork myself, and it will never feel done. Given just the right amount of time towards the end of a due date, gives me a place that I must stop and feel okay to be done with it. That felt nice to write down.

@@Psych2go basically from 1:10 to 1:54 in the vid is the most relatable to me. I feel like I have too many things to do and that it'll take a zillion hours to do so I get overwhelmed by it and never end up doing it. And things can seem boring or uninteresting to me so I never tend to do those either.its common with school work and cleaning my room when it comes to those too. but since I have ADHD procastination comes from that. But it might not just be because of ADHD that I procastinate, it might be all those 3 reasons combine on why I do it

I've been procrastinating about everyting lately, even the things that I loved the most. It's like I do nothing but sleeping all day, although I've already slept a lot, and if I'm not sleeping I'm using my phone, watching TikTok or Pinterest for hours and hours. I have a really important exam in June and I've barely study. I feel terrible about myself and I've been crying over it instead of changing it. I don't really know the cause to my procrastination and I think that's one of my biggest problems. I'm very grateful for this vid, I'll try to start studying right know, and I thought that writing down what I feel when I start procrastinating again may help me to understand myself and forgive me as well, so I can try new techniques. I've been also reading the comments and I've found interesting things, I hope you guys are doing well and taking care of yourselves 💖 (sorry for my English it's not my native language)

I'm struggling with procrastination, anxiety and binge eating for over a year now. I used to be the top student in my class but now my grades are not as good as before and what makes it even more difficult is my obsession with losing weight. I lost a lot of weight last year but now I gained it back and I'm so desperate now. I always say "I'll study tomorrow " or "I'll stick to the diet tomorrow" and stuff like that, but guess what? I never do. I can't talk to my parents about anything anymore because all they do is judge me and get mad, especially for binge eating. Now I have a friend to which I talk about my binge eating but I feel so embarrassed and like a weight on her back for having to hear all this. At first I thought that my weight gain was not noticeable but my PE teacher made fun of me in front of everyone. Now whenever a specific group of my classmates sees me they start saying: "Ooo I'm fat now, I ate so much during the school break", in a sarcastic tone. Being skinny and smart was my personality trait. Now I lost my self and title. I don't exercise anymore. I used to go to the gym but my parents don't let me go anymore because of my procrastination. I feel like I'm drowning. I would really appreciate it if you could make a video on how to stop binge eating. And if anybody read this, I would be more than thankful to hear if you have any tips to help me with my problems. Thank for reading and I wish you a good morning/ noon/ afternoon/ night.

This was definitely an incredible and helpful video, and I will most certainly share this with others! Now, as for something I procrastinate on--while some of it is on stuff like healthy eating, homework, and such, my biggest one is writing. Long story short, I'm an aspiring professional fiction writer--whether I'm good or bad is up to everyone else--but due to a combination of just business with either school or work, as well as mild discouragement from family members (more, "Put this aside and focus on climbing the corporate ladder/getting a house/etc." and less, "You'll never be a writer, so don't even try,") I got into the habit of putting writing aside--even just hobbyist writing--for other things. I am getting better, and I even hope to publish some short stories this year, but even with what I've done to help stop procrastination and bad habits, this was an essential video to see!

Being a writer is very difficult so we understand how difficult it is to not procrastinate. However, writing can also be very enjoyable especially when we're in a creative flow. If you don't mind, would you be able to let us know what kind of stories you are writing or want to write?

@@Psych2go Yeah, definitely! It's actually one reason why I've not only gotten an English Degree in college as my first Bachelor's Degree (in case you are wondering--I'm currently working on also getting a Web Design degree as well, and will get it at the end of the year if all goes well). As for talking about what I like to write, I'd be more than happy to! I'm definitely oriented toward fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Still, I would like to get into other genres as well (perhaps even try and do some literary fiction one day), and I enjoy taking different genres--or even plot/character concepts from other genres--and mixing them together. Right now, I'm currently working on some short stories in a Science Fantasy universe I've developed--with said stories focusing more on personalized conflicts, such as a woman confessing her love to her best friend or a teenager about to go through a coming-of-age ceremony deciding what she wants to do in the world--but when I get into longer works, I want to focus on larger conflicts--with one longer book (either a novella or a short novel) being an adaption of Shakespeare's MacBeth, for instance. I also have some other projects planned or started, such as a blog where I want to discuss how to give new twists on classic fantasy concepts (races, characters, settings, etc.), but since there's so much I don't want to take up too much of your time. Thanks for asking!

What things will look like in a month or a year is not today's concern. There is no need for anxiety tonight. Your goals are only a guiding light. You are welcome to think about them. That is not the same as wanting to control the future or letting it control you. Your vision can inspire you, but your focus remains on what you can do immediately. You will only ever stay in the present moment. Let the night fortify all the knowledge you have been building here. Whatever the future brings, you will be better equipped for it.

I procastinate on cleaning my room the most. I can just never get it done. But I also procastinate on other things like schoolwork and such. ADHD sucks (that's where my procastination comes from, though the first 2 points before that I also relate to) and if I'm gonna be honest, I'll just end up procastinating on stopping procastinating

I cut down on my procrastination by changing the reasons why I do things. Instead of doing things because I HAVE to, instead, I choose to do things to be kind to future me. I gotta say, future me is thriving because past me cares so much!

I’m sorry, but when I read the title, I immediately thought about BangChan saying "like mate, stop procrastinating." He is a member of the Kpop group Stray Kids and I like their music and the title just reminded me of that. Now I might actually watch the video :)

i hate writing long comments since it makes me feel like i'm oversharing, but,, ever since i was in the 7th-8th grade, i struggled a hell lot with procrastination, and until now, nothing's changed ㅠㅠ i assume it's kinda because of certain things i went through during those years, but nevertheless i'm always really frustrated with myself and sometimes even cry over it,,, and the fact that my parents always get on my nerves all the time doesn't help either. this video however,, it helped me gain insight on how i can improve myself in a way that doesn't intimidate me or- well- get on my nerves. thanks a lot for this psych2go

What a helpful video. I procrasinate a lot, so I'm going to try these tips to see if it will work. I've always wanted to make music or learn how to improve my drawings but I keep telling myself to do it, and I keep forgetting to or I remember to do it, but I end up going onto KZbin to watch something else that isn't related to it. Maybe if I follow these tips, I can move on from my terrible habits and get on from all the years I've wasted of my 17 year old life.

I love my passion as an illustrator. Although I think, I'm beggining to become a procratinator somehow. I feel like my working place is not supportive enough on a project that I'd made. But the good side is, the other branch of our university is more interested on my works than my own society.

for me, my parents never really forced me to study. the only thing that really matters for me is entertainment and I procrastinate a lot. i have a geography test tommorow, and i havent studied a single bit (only basic stuff). the thing is that when my parents take my stuff away ill just probably use a different device, or if they take all my stuff away i get really demotivated and just genuenly think theres nothing in life because ive always found everything except for cooking and playing computer games, which i cant cook always and my pc is the main reason i procrastinate. i was supposed to start studying for the geography test a week ago btw and when i do study for any test i dont find it that bad but theres just "much better" things to do in life rather than just sitting there six hours for a stupid number in an app that doesnt even matter for me honestly currently the only thing that does matter for me is my friends. by now i dont know the point of life really, i do wanna be successful as a programmist but my mind is just set up to "oh i only need maths, IT and English which im already best from my class at1 to persue my dream" which is not good for me considering i get really bad grades from the subjects i care about the least, like history or geography. for me when i dont have my electronics everything is boring especially because im an only child and i dont get to hang out with my friends a lot, because 7th grade in Poland is clustered af and theres everything everywhere + additional afterschool stuff. to sum it up i do feel bad af about myself especially with the mindset im having right now, and i do feel that this video will help me out.

I am a professional procrastinator. Thinking of studying or writing an assignment and failing may probably my biggest reason why i keep on procrastinating 😢 and having anxiety doesn't help at all. What does help me at times is giving myself a reward after I'm done with whatever i was procrastinating about. E.g, i buy snacks and only get to eat them when I'm done studying or writing 😅 y'all should try that and see😊
