I am a four year owner of a male Akita and have realized during this time with him that “he” has a personal perspective and differentiates by himself when and how to bark , extending this information for me to understand. I’ve come to realize that there’s almost never a bark by mistake.

im loving your authenticity and spirit. im glad i found this channel.. however.. lol. this video seemed more generic about dogs rather than akitas in particular. If it is the same rule for all dogs then i understand but i think Akitas have a difiernet way of thinking and i was hoping they would be talked about more bassed on their particular charachteristic traits. what is excessive barking? my bear will bark at people when they come in the house and can be annoying, but i thought that was because this his his terrtory. outside he is does not care. dependant on the person and i guess what energy they ar egiving he will sometimes just go super chill, but some, the majority of people he is the proper fun police. he will bark every time they move. and i have tried the things you prescribed but he is his own charachter per se. thanks...

Have owned three Akitas over my lifetime ( one male and two females) They extremely rarely barked. But could see the reason they barked. Only time I praised for barking, was knock on door, as old farm house and the living room across the house from the entry. It was funny kitchen dining area had hardwood floors and she had to turn ,90 degrees left I was like the toilet paper commercial think Cottonelle had the white puppies sliding You could hear her nails on the floor as she was trying run All the other times it was for defense of family and always one person but again know why

These answers will work with the larger masses of the Akita. Unfortunately, there are certain dogs who are bred for bloodlines and not for intelligence. Such an example is my male Akita. He thinks exercise is moving from one end of the couch to the other. He then thinks he needs a nap. He has the mentality of a 6-9 month puppy and he will be 6yrs old this month. He will bark at inanimate objects. He barks at our Tahoe that has been in the family before he was. He will walk up to one of the sets of sliding glass doors, look out for 30 seconds or so then start licking the glass. I have accepted that my boy is "special". I'm home all the time and there's no question that he sees me as pack leader. I'm not sure how to get him to stop the barking at nothing. He gets my other 2 dogs to jump on the bark party wagon and while they are easier to cease in their barking, he isn't. I watch all of your videos about the Akita. I just don't seem to find answers when looking for my male. I wish you had some answers for "special" dogs.

If he's barking at random objects he may be afraid of them (you usually see that in puppies, but I've seen some adults do that too). You may have small animals or insects under your car/in the house or he may actually be afraid of the car. Teaching the "quiet/enough" command may help - saying the word forcefully but not too loud and making some weird distracting noise to interupt their train of thought, rewarding them with food as soon as they shut the hell up. Rinse and repeat when they bark again, sometimes may have to follow it up with other commands for the dog too. I've also found letting them inspect the object excessively while giving them food for being quiet and good does help a lot. Also..he may not be stupid, he may be too smart for his own good. I have a SUPER lazy Akita that figured out if he pretended to be exhausted/hurt/or hid he could avoid doing stuff. Had to find extreme ways to motivate him and he's honestly still an asshole to work with half the time. I've had to explain to multiple neighbors that no, he's not hurt..he's just an asshole and doesn't want to go on a walk because its humid. Good luck with your doggo!

My akita is not good driven or object driven and makes training hard which is fine but any suggestions on other ways I could get her to coax her into doing the things for training purposes a little more easier

My male Akita starts the barking and then starts my female and my mutt barking. We live on a road they hear all the traffic. They think someone is here, especially when people turn around in my driveway.

I am fostering a 3 year old Akita. He was found a stray and then in outdoor run for a year. I think he learned barking either from other dogs or for survival. He barks at people inside and outside.
