Yes. I have a reactive dog. This is my second time to watch this video and it is continuing to help me. I adopted my girl 4 months ago and had watched your video about her first days at home with me. Thank goodness. She was so quiet and shy at the shelter. I had no idea she would be reactive. She and I have bonded a lot of the last 4 months and we are learning so much together. Thank you! Thank you! Reactivity is the result of genetics, prenatal environment, early life and socialization and past experiences. It all gets mixed together and can be hard to draw a direct line from A to B. Sounds like you're doing the right things - focusing on what you can influence and managing the rest!

I have had huge success with BAT mixed with LAT. My clients are successful with it about 95% of the time when they put the time and practice in. With my 2 month program I have had most clients about to join group classes at the end of that time period.

My dog Goose is SO excited by other dogs. We've been training for CGC, and he does all of the things unless there are dogs nearby 😅 He loves them. I would love for him to become calmer around them.

Me too! My 6month old has gone over threshold right from a puppy. Luckily she loves everyone, but I need her to not lose her mind over every being she sees. This has been great and I love your style of presentation. :D

Thank you for this. I'm in Portland and have a super reactive cocker spaniel and we run into a lot of trouble with people letting their off leash dogs run up to us at parks. Obviously that's a get-out-of-there situation but I will definitely try BAT for more controlled situations!

Hello from Bend @Isabel! Yes, overtime BAT can help your dog reassociate how they feel about other dogs. But I can empathize with off leash dogs - it can stressful for that to happen with a reactive dog!

My dog is an Aussie shepherd about 8 months old and has started to become reactive but only when she sees a person in the distance on a walk she’s fine when we are at markets/parks and there are a number of people and dogs around so when she first reacted badly it took me by surprise and I quickly pulled her away and went home (not the best idea but I was in shock 😂) I’m just unsure until she is fine on a normal walk should I not trust her at markets or in busy areas? When we are in a busy area she’s usually the complete opposite and can be too enthusiastic saying hi to people but as soon as it’s just us alone on a walk and someone comes around the corner or is even in their front yard she jumps and barks at them and it comes across very aggressive but if they come closer she pulls away as hard as she can to stay away from them I will try your techniques atm I keep avoiding people if I see them in the distance because it’s pretty stressful for everyone

You've made some great observations here Lilly! Based on your description, you might consider avoiding those markets or busy areas whenever possible and to the extent that you can. It might be easier and less stressful for both of you!

I think the dog can't judge the danger appropriately. It sounds like anything at a distance isn't something that she can be comfortable with. It's probably built in to her makeup, but she doesn't have to feel so out of control. Being on the alert vs reacting. Sounds like dog prefers close in.

My new dog barks at my step son every time he wants in the house or out of his room. I’m not sure how I can get much space between them… his hair stands up and he growels. I told my step son get low and be slow, and let the dog come to him. But my step son really stresses out.

Try doing some work outside and at a distance with them! Gotta create some good interactions with your step son to create a good association!
