Great video once again, thanks so much Will. Gonna be using your methods on my new puppy very soon. I think the thumbnails let them down a bit, and kind of cheapen them. They look deceptively click-baitey and does not accurately represent the quality within. Just my 2 cents ofc. Have a great day

In addition to my previous comment, when the key solution is in our own energy and confidence, while you live in a country that has stress level that breaks the charts, how do we navigate tough streets, remain calm, and stop worrying about dangers when the worrying is for good reason? The dogs respond to you and to my trainer here for example because there is no added emotional entanglement with the dog. I wish I lived in a calm place with parks for dogs to run in. Thank you for your videos. It helped a lot while training my dogs to stop pulling, unless there is a stray cat.

nice work wow , sleap lead combined with experience looks awesome here i know i am lazy, do you have a explicit video just what to avoid with slip leads, what to look for (maybe or little dogs) have seen many of your videos showing great that you try them yourself to know the level of pull - still any "be careful" videos to watch ?

Love your videos Will and thank you, have found many of them very very helpful. I have three dogs and individually they are all pretty good on a lead but all three together can be a nightmare. Do you have any training tools on how to get them to walk well together?

Great video something I’m trying to work on with my Cane Corso who’s very jumpy and pounces towards other dogs not in a malicious way just he wants to play. However that behaviour isn’t acceptable I don’t know how the other dog will react and he can do it when the dogs the other side of the road with on coming traffic. Will do you have any placement guides and create training guides as my dog won’t stay in a place I want when I go to answer the door or anything.

that reactive dog is about 10% of the reactivity of my dog (a Belgian Tervuren), pure aggressive reactivity as well, rescue dog about 2 yrs old, lived in a car with another dog before she was surrendered, not only reactive on other dogs, but any animal, not reactive to any person that I have introduced her to. Her pulling calms down after about two minutes on a walk, but if another dog appears in her line of site she goes berserk no matter the distance.

Hey if you are looking for help he has more videos on the matter but I also recommend watching some of the Upstate Canine Academy videos he also works with cases like that and has a maybe quite similar case on his podcast about a dog that freaks as soon as someone rings the doorbell. Maybe look into that if you are interested in more ideas what to do

Hello there! Any advice on how to deal with a rescue from a shelter which is extremely fearful of everything? We've made great progress in one Month already but I'd love to hear if there's more information coming or already on your channel (As I did not find anything in this regard)! Thank you for your work!

Positive reinforcement + (positive punishment if reactive). Socialise them like you would a puppy. Take them EVERYWHERE. If they’re fearful of the thing you’re introducing them to, make them focus on you instead of the thing whilst keeping in close proximity. Reinforce that good behaviour (looking at you) with treats/a toy. If they’re not interested in you, make it a game, high-pitched voice, wave the treat around etc. If they’re reacting to the thing, correct them with slip/martingale/flat collar/sharp no, then redirect their attention on to you. Repeat daily until the things are so uninteresting that all your dog’s focus is on you. This works with everything fyi.

Another trainer, Robert Cabral, recommends putting on a second slip lead and pulling upward on it until the dog stops biting the first leash and vice versa. Personally, I find it works just as well to use only the one leash and pull directly upward until the dog either stops moving or goes into a sit. If it’s coming from a playful place, then remain calm and say nothing to the dog. Praise the dog silently with either touch or food when they stop.

Sorry also do you have any tip or tricks and guides to stop my Cane Corso from barking the street down when I leave him at home for 30 minutes or less sometimes while I nip to the shops, I leave him the run of the house, leave his favourite chew toys and even tried calming music but nothing works it’s as if I can’t leave him on his own and unfortunately there has to be times where I need to do this. Open to any help and suggestions from everyone. Kind Regards Jamie

In Egypt, most dogs are completely misbehaved, and it is a reflection of the chaos we live in. I have a rescue and deeply psychologically scarred 8 year old cocker spaniel, and his son mixed with a Dalmatian mother. They each respond well to training, yet they started fighting, and the son hurt his dad twice. Now I separated them, but it is heartbreaking knowing how tough it is to undo years of abuse. I worked to make him feel safe which transformed him, but when the dog fights started, it set him back. Trainers here are mostly following archaic methods that actually make the dog more fearful than well-behaved and confident. Is there any hope to get them back to being friends, or will I remain stuck in this forever? I don't trust rehoming here for either of them... :(

I heard that using a slip lead just behind the ears only works well, because it triggers the survival instinct of the dog, that‘s why he „surrenders“ that fast. However, I don‘t know if it‘s true or not. When I watch your videos, the dog does not Look unhappy with the slip lead on. Anyone with more Information about this? :)

@@stephanieoleszczuk4830 excellent. Do you have a Herm sprenger 2.2 or 3.2 mm? Put it right behind the ears and it'll work. Every time he goes to pull, pull up. Correct him. Reward him when he doesn't pull.

I have a 3.2 and I have it as close as I can . But he is I between sizes. And I did try pulling up but it doesn't phase him. He is very strong and I really don't have much strength do to my disability. I noticed his attitude change when my husband passed. He got reactive and when I take him in the suv he shakes the whole truck when he sees another dog. He wasn't like this before he was supposed to be my service dog. But now he can't and he has all the right stuff to be one except he became reactive . I'm getting so frustrated . Because I need my lifeline back.
