because of set backs ultra wide monitor has when it comes to gaming and streaming, i'm having some regrets of choosing an ultra wide. But it defnitely is a better choice when just gaming. More peripherals the better

base resolution 3440x1440 output resolution 1720x720 Problem solved for twitch. Don't want to deal with ultrawide aspect ratio in stream? just pick a 16:9 resolution on your nvidia panel, and u see yourself 2 black boarders for when u stream, again problem solved Want to see ultrawide yourself and 16:9 for twitch? base 1920x1080 scaling 1920x1080 U just center drag your screen to the middle of the screen so the boarders on the left and right fall away from your viewers. Yes they will miss some information from the sides so its something u gotta deal with.

@@RushhhBTS As far as I'm aware, yes, as long as it's set to the correct settings, and you're exporting the video in the same resolution when editing. Had a whole hassle with it...

This is helpful for those who find this in time. 3440x1440p Here. I eventually started streaming with a base canvas set to 16:9/1920x1080p with a PNG type wallpaper to cover the black bars. Easier on my system and some viewers have complimented on the aesthetic. Same applies to 720p, I don't use a downscale filter unless the Base Canvas and Output scaled resolution are different.

I just got a 3440 ultra wide today.. solved the problem quickly. I press shift and manually stretch the footage myself and played with the safe area to by moving the mini map and ammo counter get closer to 16:9. It looks almost indistinguishable from true 16:9 when tho it’s in 21:9. Looks great.

⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@@spookydigita rather easier way to do this without the "hassles" is select your source and right click the canvas (source preview) then click on transform and select edit transform and change the size to 2560x1440p. After you do that right click again and click on transform and select Center to Screen. Also depending the game you play, lets say cod you can go into interface and move the HUB more towards the center so on ur stream it looks like youre playing on 19:6. If you have any problems just let me know. edit: i tested this with a base canvas and output resolution of 1920x1080 and 16:9 aspect ratio in settings in the video tab. So if you run into any issues try changing those in settings.

I have a 49” G9 Oled. I was going crazy trying to figure out what to do with my stream but even though it’s a 21:9 aspect ratio I found a 16:9 ratio to be about as good of a compromise that I’m willing to make. I actually like the black bars on top and bottom cause you you said, I can fit all my socials, logos and info quite nicely.

I literally just gave up recording gameplay footage...it's a PITA and my monitor was $2k, not going to downgrade it just to record videos. It sucks that youtube just doesn't support this natively. When I can't use my monitor for enjoyment, then making videos isn't going to be a fun process anymore. Maybe one day the industry will get with the times

There are two places in OBS settings for rescaling, and I'm unsure which to use. Because of my slow Internet connection, I need to stream at 480p. Should I do the rescaling on the Video tab or the Output (Streaming) tab? Currently have the resolutions set the same on the Video tab but checked the Rescale Output option on the Output tab.

I used you Tuturial a couple of months ago at it works perfect for me. After couple of days there was a Streamlaps update and now I could not reproduce it... if I go to "fit to screen" it doesn't change it so you have the black bars on top and bottom. Any ideas?

I just use NVIDIA control panel to set my resolution from 3440 x 1440 to 1920 x 1080. I'm too lazy to mess with all those settings.

Hey I could use some help. I am using streamlabs and am trying to fit my ultra wide onto a 16:9 canvas. I have the same settings as you but when I hit fit to screen, it does the same thing as stretch to screen, instead of having the black borders on top and bottom like I want it too. What's going on?

Have you set both the base and output resolution to 1080p? I'm not in my studio, but I'm pretty sure that's how I was able to get the black bars in OBS with my ultrawide.

@@jafalamusic yes I have. Thanks for helping out. I actually figured it out the same day I posted that comment. In streamlabs, for the game capture settings it was set to auto. All I had to do was change it to capture a specific window then right click, hit transform, fit to screen. Idk why they made it like that but yea thanks anyway.

Hello, i have a problem with the ultrawide streaming at 06:43 you are speaking about streaming in full ultrawide resolution 21:9, in my case i want to stream in full 32:9, and the fact there are black bars appearing everywhere, is there a way to turn them off and stream in full resolution so that someone that have access to 21:9 or 32:9 resolution fit the entire capture on his screen ?

Twitch doesn't support 21:9 streaming, you'll need to add a background to hide the bars, but KZbin does support Ultrawide. I stream from OBS (Base canvas 3440x1440 and output 3440x1440 in 60fps) directly to KZbin without any black bars. Feel free to give it a look, I hope that helps.

Very simple solution for using a Wide Screen. You MUST connect a second monitor and use OBS get the canvas size. Always stream in 4K.

Twitch, meanwhile, does technically support 4K at 60 FPS, but it frowns on livestreamers who use more than 3,500 Kbps. before i went to the Army i streamed for 5 years on and off again nobody streams in 4k

If I’m dual PC streaming with a capture card the capture card has to be a duplicate screen of one of my monitors. So when I select my ultrawide it force it to max out at 1080p. Is there a solution for this?

Windows detects the capture card like a third monitor, then I "full screen preview" on my gaming PC to the capture card with whatever settings I need. The capture card itself is limited to 1080p like yours... But I can zoom/crop/position with my gaming PC's OBS, then record/stream on the streaming PC's OBS... I only have one, but you'd get bonus points for two stream decks, one dedicated to (re)positioning your gaming monitor on the 1080p canvas and the other for actual streaming stuff. (currently use hotkeys for different "scenes" for that on my gaming rig)

@@grimli So this worked for me streaming fortnite pretty well actually. But when I went to play the division it was like 3 frames per second I’m trying to stream while playing on my new ultra wide monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 and looking at the 4K60 S+ I currently have an HD60 S, which only captures up to 1080 P and therefore when I go to duplicate and clone my screen it downscales my ultrawide monitors resolution and makes my stream quality look pretty bad. So I have a two part question: 1) If this thing records in 4K (3840 by 2160 resolution, at 30 FPS or 60 FPS) It should therefore capture my resolution of 3440 x 1440 as it fits in that 2) The website says it does not support 1440p capturing however, can I not just choose the 4K setting as it will still capture the entire window/screen I’m trying to stream? Technically a 1440 setting would be too small anyways beings my monitor is ultrawide and not 2160 x 1440 to begin with

What do you mean? It is completely possible. I stream in 21:9 all the time. The little black bars don't really hinder the viewer experience IMO.

The problem is the streaming provider, not the monitor. All stream providers are way behind. However, from this video it would appear many streamers are also way behind. FYI: I stream in Super UltraWide without issues. Of course, I bothered to read the OBS manual and have been professionally cutting video for many years, so there's that.
