Physicist here. Loved your video and how you approached the torque as a way to explain how to hit with the shinai. However, I have to make a small annotation to you fantastic explanation. Torque, as it is the product of 2 magnitudes, means that, for an equal torque, the shorter it is one of those magnitudes, the higher it must be the other. e.g. Let's suppose a toque of 1 N·m, with r=1m and F=1N. If I make my bar shorter (r=0.5m), the strength I must use to rotate the bar must increase by the same magnitude so for r=0.5m, F=2N. That's why it's easier to screw a nut the longer the key is, why it's easier to move out a sword by its tip insted of by its guard and by the doorknow is at the opposite side of the axis of rotation. I explain this because, in 2:14, you say "the shorter the distance from the axis of rotation, the less force is required", which is quite the opposite. Except for that point, your explanation, is certainly true when you talk about the center of mass (CM) and how to move the saber. When you use the CM as you axis, given that the distance from your hand to said axis is bigger, the force needed to make the movement is lower. You can also say that when striking one is aided by gravity, but that's something for those who love physics.

Thanks 😊 The concept of Seme by the shinai's center of gravity should be common sense, not only Nito but also Jodan and chudan, I believe 😇

thank you for editing the video and reuploading it with the mention of niten ichi ryu musashikai. as said before. this video is a great discription of this striking technique and will help alot of people easily understand the use of center of gravitation!

Thanks to your comment before, I had a chance to edit/add more thought and mention it correctly 😊 Hope this will help not only Nito kenshi who want to try but also all Kenshi to understand Riai of Ken (剣の理合), which I could consider by my self 😉👍
