How to String A Pro Kennex Racquetball Racquet

Doc, hoping you can shed some light on what the weighting system is for most racquetball manufacturers as I have spent a lot of time, including calls directly to manufactures, in trying to learn what is meant by (Example) “2-points head heavy” . What is a point ? Just recently I’ve seen a racquet listed as 223mm head heavy and one read 223 head light ? Thanks again.

I for sure can help with this question. The mm distance is a measurement from the bottom of the butt cap to the balance point of a racquet ; the head points measurement is the distance from the balance point 1/8 an inch in either direction. Depending on how far away it is from the middle of the racquet will determine how headlight or head heavy a frame is. For Example a racquet ball racquet will be 22 inches or 55.88 cm long so even balance would be 11 inches or 27.94 cm ; so if a racquet is 2 points head heavy it would be 11.25 inches or 28.58 cm - 285.8mm

Racquetology, I think I could use a mounting adapter as well as I have a typical 6 point mounting machine which was pricey and works very well for tennis. On some racquetball racquets I could barely fit, I ended up not being able to clamp the top cross. So I had to double pull the top two crosses. I in addition also have the old glide bar machine which mounts all these better but straight glide bars do not work well with fan patterns and that seems to be all racquetball racquets. I do not think I would have much luck calling about the adapter since the company is out of the stringing business. Do you know who might have one?

Ok then I don’t know why you think Babolat are out of the stringing business, but let me assure they are not and can still contact them about their machines. Also depending on the glide bar machine there can be adapters for swivel clamps.

I got the same problem on my Baiardo about not reaching the top cross with machine clamps... Did you find a solution for yours?

I own a stringer and recently switched to PK racquetball racquets, what is the pattern for the first strings that you didnt record there? Im new to this and am not sure what you did.

Can you do a gearbox racquet although it appears very similar?

How do you know which racquets you can pull tension on each segment and those you double pull on? I know from tennis stringing that double pulling results in two strings having half the tension. I looked at the USRSA digest and it just says start at L1h and feed to LT1 and loop to LT2 and end up at L3H. It does not say where and when to tension. I assume that means a double pull? Gearbox 250 instructions. No mention of double pulling or when to tension. I know what I am doing with tennis but no clue with racquetball.

Very good question and something that is a problem within the racquetball industry in general. For this particular frame I called Pro Kennex just to verify the method, as none of the material from the USRSA seems to flat out say what it would recommend. Now there are some brands which use the double pull method such as E-Force and Wilson due to the through the handle design, this would still have the string on the other side lose about 20%-50% depending on the string. This is just how the company would want the string to be pulled during the installation, I know some will try to lower the overall difference using a pre-stretch setting to offset the tension loss but whatever you choose to due just make sure it is fine for the warranty of the frame and keep it consistent. Also this is just from my memory right now but the Gearbox frames have 2 double pulls on each side for the beginning mains, then switch to single pulls for the rest. I own multiple other racquetball frames and plan to still make videos on how to properly string them according to the companies rules, so worst case scenario there will be easy to access information online sooner or later. @@racquetology Thank you for your response. A lot of times in the digest I see "all mains tensioned at the head (2ms being tensioned together). I do not see this with the gearbox instructions. I feel bad for racquetball and now tennis is going the same way because of pickleball. I am going to try to string the GBX1 like I do in tennis. A guy came into the store begging to get his racquetball racquets strung and I guess that means I have to learn how to do it correctly. I did send an email to USRSA (I am a member), hope to get clarification.
