Ever wanted to strip the paint on a Transformer? Here's how!
Today we're removing the paint on Combiner Wars Bruticus's head for a more G1-accurate look. Stripping paint is also helpful for preparing a clean base for a new coat of paint for custom work.

The stock gray plastic is a SICK look that matches the chest perfectly...guess Hasbro was stuck on the Fall of Cybertron Bruticus (who also has a black noggin).

Would you ever recommend immersing an entire toy? I am getting a CW First Aid, and want to strip the paint to make the Botcon 2016 customization class Medix

I like how you gave him the G1 rifle. I did the same thing. along with giving mine the PE head, feet and hands.

Very cool! I'm late to the party and only just now got my Combaticons, but excited to be able to make mine look the way I remember. Thanks for the vid!

Great video, but just wondering why you wouldn't just use the toothbrush for the paint in the creases instead of picks or tweezers...
@benvoliothefirst
@benvoliothefirst 2 жыл бұрын
I'd start with the toothbrush and then go for picks/tweezers if the bristles didn't get everything. Brush would cover more area faster, but picks would be more aggressive with problem areas.

Do you have a video on how to remove WFC Siege's stimulated damage paint? I recently got Siege's Springer and Apeface, and I'd like to remove as many of the dull silver scuffs without removing any other paint.

I saw where you said you removed Blast Off's head. Do you have any advice on removing Air Raid's? I have a KO CW Air Raid and I want to remove his head to give him a loose Blast Off head I already have.

Neat. I'm content with the black head myself. But still neat.

Great video man. Quick question. Will the chemical affect metal? I want to put a piece of a transformer into the remover but the piece has a couple metal pins. Will the remover affect the pins? Thanks for the video

Did you mod onslaught's hip to make him stand upright when combined, or was he like that out of the box?
@camzilla51
@camzilla51 8 жыл бұрын
Mine seems to stand straight, but then again, if it does tilt, the new ankle joints on the PE kit would be balancing it out. Pelvic thrusts for the win! I did, however, find a new Onslaught with the rumored adjusted sideways hip ratchets and took some pictures for comparisons. The bare parts looked no different, yet somehow there still seemed to be a difference, so I have those hips installed now.

how well do the Citadel paints stick to the plastic without a primer?
@camzilla51
@camzilla51 7 жыл бұрын
Moderately well. I don't always use a primer, but I do often clean and prep the surface I'm painting on. In Citadel's tutorial videos, they don't always use primers either. "Base" colors seem to do that job just as well. I always finish everything off with a coat of 'Ardcoat varnish or matte Lahmian Medium, depending on what effect I want. It does not hold up as good as the stock paint apps, but if you're mindful, it will stay good. I also avoid painting into joints. If you can't sand it down enough to eliminate contact friction that would chip your paint later, then avoid the area.
@Saminkio

Camzilla51 I've painted miniatures with Citadel Products since '05 and I have to say, a primer is ALWAYS preferable. If you cannot spray I raccomend brush-on primers, Citadel makes a really good one. Another alternative is to do a very very thin pass with a 2500 grit sandpaper before painting.
@benvoliothefirst
@benvoliothefirst 2 жыл бұрын
@@Saminkio 100% THIS. You WILL regret painting onto bare, un-sanded plastic. It'll rub right off with handling even if you're doing a Future/'Ardcoat afterward. Which you should ALSO do. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Speaking of mods , i did get my onslaught two days ago , and i did a mod to him just so his head would articulate , because the head is actually on a balljoint , so i pried it open with my cutting tool , i cut off a bit of the exces plastic from his nape , and i sanded down a bit of the edges of the bottom of his nape , and now he can look up! here's a link to my post on Deviant Art about it , so you can take a better look ^^ :powerglide17.deviantart.com/art/Transformers-Combiner-Wars-Onslaught-mods-668333846?ga_submit_new=10%3A1489234064
