If you want to know what you should include in your UX Research portfolio, watch last week's Zero to UX video! Link down below! Good luck!

Great pro tip to include the “why”. I would have completely missed that in an interview!

Kevin! You’re the best. I just stumbled across your channel yesterday and I have been watching all your videos today. I too have a background in something completely different from “tech” and I’ve been struggling with imposter syndrome & getting started. My background is in clinical psychology & counseling. Love to collaborate and solve problems! Recently I have felt so discouraged about ever breaking into this field and your story has provided a little bit of hope I need in order to keep going. I will just keep failing until I don’t. Lol Thank you SO much for all of your insight! I seriously feel like we’d be great friends if we ran into each other out in the world. So relatable!

Hey! I relate to this so much! I am also a psychology student (social psych) and I don't know how or where to start!

@@ekim7263 Hi E Kim! I feel ya! It’s hard. And unlike some paths with psychology, there doesn’t seem to be a straight forward path. Combine that with companies not understanding UX completely and it gets even more difficult. BUT there are great folks like Kevin out there! I am also looking around my area for *any* related meetups (in tech, design, etc) to meet people, make friends, learn from each other, and who knows, maybe I’ll have something to offer one of them. Plans for now: practice UXR, meet new people, keep my eyes wide open as I go about daily living in my community for opportunities to help others. We can do this. We really can. What has this process been like for you? Where are ya in your UX journey? :)

@@loril8990 Exactly, it looks like there are so many ways to break into the field (which could be an ad or disadvantage). Me too! I am trying to connect with more people but it's hard to find in my geological location lol so I'm just expanding through online platforms! I just started a few days ago but feeling a little anxious because it is nearing December and most recruiters finish recruiting by March. I am also an international student so I only have a 90-day grace period to find a job after graduating in May 2020. Plans for now: read more about UX, talk to more UX folks, connect, START on a personal project and develop portfolios. I wish I could get into one of these bootcamps but haha they are EXPENSIVE! I just have to do it on my own I guess (shrugs) How long have you been into it?

I just wanted to applaud on how your videos are not only helpful, but also extremely entertaining! I liked how you inserted that excerpt of "pour que". You've definitely reinforced some information in a very unique way. Thank you!

Hey Kevin thanks for this! How would you suggest answering impact/results questions? Specifically, if you have already left the team and aren't sure how your research has impacted the organization?

Kevin, I just wonder... In a job interview in which you are required to present the most recent research project, how you can present it without violating the NDA of your current company?

Hi! I'm a master's student in Geography based in Canada and I'm looking to transition into UX Research upon graduation. I'm currently struggling because besides my master's research (which includes interviewing some professionals) and some previous research assistant work (which involved surveys and questionnaires), I'm not sure how to grow my portfolio especially in contexts related to tech/finance. I was wondering what you would recommend I do to gain more relevant experience in UX research. Thank you!

Hi Kevin, do we need to make a PPT to present or can we just go about it verbally? I'm sure a PPT would help both myself and the audience but want to know if it is expected?
@zerotoux
@zerotoux Жыл бұрын
Best to have a PPT! The interviewers want to assess how you might present research in a real setting, too. If you're just going to verbally say stuff all the time, your stakeholders might not like it cuz they want to see some visuals and have a report to reference in the future.

Hi Kevin thanks so much for the content! Would this portfolio format also be suitable for a UX job interview presentation?
@zerotoux
@zerotoux 4 жыл бұрын
I would say so! UX portfolios are more about the process and story of how you approach problems. BUT ux should definitely have some more visuals to how your design skills and why you did things
