Hi Kevin! Thanks for the videos, it's been extremely helpful in framing what to expect from interviews. I did have a question that was similar to a question already posted, but how do you deal with conflicting results in your research? So for example, you show three different UI's to your subjects and they all get an equal amount of votes - how would you think about this? Or let's say that how people behave is quite different from what they are saying - how do you deal with these results? I would be happy to lay down my thought process for these but it would also be great to hear from an experienced UX researcher. Thanks again for your help with these videos!

What about if I'm applying from overseas? Great videos btw. I always find myself referring to your channel and videos when I'm looking for info on UX work

That's great to hear, Nikki! Thanks for watching :) I think for overseas onsite interviews, they MIGHT fly you to their office to meet them but only if you have shown you are really committed to make the move. Most companies however will have you do a remote onsite interview (which companies have been doing these days during COVID). It's a video call and you go through the same process!

Hi Kevin, another brilliant and immensely helpful video, thanks so much!! I have a question about the task based interview question where a company may ask you to formulate a research plan based on "a problem you've worked through that the company have given you" as Paula says at 7:19. I am currently in the process of doing exactly this in an interview. Do you have any additional insights on this? Do you think that showing your process "your workings" behind your research plan is the key element? Thanks again for all the badass videos and tips, its definitely helped me get through a recent first round interview!

Hey A P! (I think Andy???) Sorry for the delayed response! The tip for tackling that question is to use the STAR method for interviews: Situation, Task, Action, and Results. If you use that framework, you can easily play around with your story and weave in parts that are necessary to showcase your skills. For example, always start with understanding the problem with stakeholders, talk aloud different considerations (timeline, scope, target group etc...) and then talk about your methods and why!

Hi Kevin! Thanks again for the video. How might the process or questions change if it was an interview for an internship instead ?
@zerotoux
@zerotoux 4 жыл бұрын
Great question!! I might make a video about that then...but essentially the questions will be more about your current skillset and how you want to grow and how the role can help you grow. They won't expect you to be an expert (or rather, shouldn't!). They are looking for growth potential and whether you can be managed or trained. So stay humble and curious to learn.
