All of uke, why not learn all of uke... with UZ! I am amazed how you make what I thought a very melancholic song into something fun and happy. The image of the trampoline helps a lot to get the movement: maybe a way of transforming pain into energy and joy ? A languorous stroke and then a brisk whip... Merci beaucoup!

1)I am crazy about this lesson and I find with the speed and all ( I know I can slow it down, but I like the vitesse) I slip into chucking ( hey, this song has helped me, without intending improve my chuck, thanks), but I like this mellower sound. I suppose it depends if I use the index finger or the thumb while strumming . When I use the index, I tend to use the bottom (palm) part of my thumb.

Yes - wherever it feels natural, follow that. Just as long as your technique is LIGHT. That's key. Keep on searching for the effortless, ease of when something is known. Watch the body...feel the dance on the instrument....ENjoy :-)

We recently did this song in concert; it's always fun played jazzy and loose in the syncopation. Some day I'd love to play the picking patterns and flourishes you do here, even half as fluidly as you do it. Right now, Until I get better at it I do a few slides here and there instead.

2) The delicious UDU at the end adds so much flavour but overused it's less magical. It is nice to feel a surprise when it comes- how often should we had it? After certain chords? I know it's a matter of preference but any suggestions?

You can feel free there...Once you're in the pocket, just stretch out with your feelings & start to improv some strum effects...it becomes more jammy that way too. :-)

I am getting like 3 beats instead of 2: 1 when i slow strum,1when i fast strum and 1 when i mute Unlike in yours where the fast strum and mute together are one beat. And my hand movement is also different from yours, i know I am doing it wrong but don't know how to correct it

Hi Kim, It's what I played...it is the songsheet. I'm following the chords & strum....the songsheet is a guide - jazz has lots of ad libbing - in tis version I stick pretty close to the page ;-)

great song and lesson but waaaaay to fast for me to play along with you. I could only get one strum per measure, but at least I muted that strum! I will have to slow it down a lot, although then you sound like somebody leaving the dentist with a numbed mouth that won't work and it makes me laugh.
