@carlosperianez41114 жыл бұрын
@@almabalderas6014 As I see it, that's one posibility. Another one is learning-memorizing the answer directly when you write your question (Ali suggests to do active recall even before you start to write your questions, during your first read. I think he says that in another video), then, when you ask yourself first time using active recall (testing yourself), you don't have to memorize, you have to recall the anwser and start to use spaced repetition to test yourself. Obviously, if you don't remember the answer to your question, you have to study-memorize it again and test yourself later or next day again and then start to use spaced repetition

@@zarairxx1531 you really just gotta give it ur all and forget everything else for the 3 months. It also helps to give it some kinda fun n motivating name to hype urself up for the job. I called it the ENDGAME Anyway, heres how i did it: 1 - ISOLATE. I traveled back to my home country and lived in an empty house by myself to ensure i had 0 distractions. 2 - treat it as if u were an elite level athlete training for their next fight or something. This means, eat clean to avoid feeling sluggish, consume foods and drinks that promote blood flow and are good for the brain. Make sure you are sleeping exactly 8 hours a day (no more or less). Never sacrifice sleep as it plays a vital role in helping you learn and retain information. 3 - ensure u r studying in the most efficient way possible. Dont waste time on stuff u already know. Use the tips in the video for this. 4 - its important to develop a level of "love" for ur subject. This makes sure that u dont have stuff u wld rather be doing (using ur phone for example). You really have to WANT to study every waking moment of ur day. U can try developing this kind of "love" for ur subjects by frequently thinking about y u like ur subjects and maybe relating it to things u come across in ur day to day life. You really need to be in peak performance mode to pull this off. Also, make sure to spend a good amount of time doing past papers. Dear Ali, I am a third year medical student from Nepal, managing time and studying, having every stuff on the tip of our tongue during clinical years is really tough, I'm really thankful to you, I make sets of questions after studying every topic and I go through the questions. I don't make notes I recall what I have studied, write it down and then see if I missed anything. This is really helpful. Thank you so much!

To blitz through a topic and just try to actively recall it and then move on rather than to focus too hard when reading is such terrific advice. Not only is it proven to be effective but it also saves a lot of time. I also love how you emphasized that effective studying methods, i.e. active recall methods, are more cognitively demanding than highlighting, underlining and rereading. Often I hear the advice, "Don't study hard, study less by studying smart"--when actually, studying LESS IS studying hard! Highlighting and rereading will take hours but it is undoubtedly the "easy" route because you're not challenging yourself. It's way more demanding on your brain to do active recall although it's faster and more efficient. Thank you for helping me realize that spending hours "studying hard" is actually quite lazy if you think about it...

I’m a GCSE student and what I realised is a lot of my friends make notes and don’t know these things. Before watching this video I would feel so bad that I haven’t even started but I guess this was my cue that I don’t need notes but I just need to active recall of what I don’t and do know. I’ll tell y’all how it goes.

Thank you. This is a life saver. Not only is it more effective, I've found it to be enjoyable, and rewarding. You go through questions knowing exactly what you know and what you dont. On repeated revisions then you exactly know where you stand with a topic. Unlike when you just read and outline or whatever, you dont know for sure how well you have it down.

Ali, I love these videos. The usage of evidence based advice is helpful. But, to me the examples from top-of-year students is what is particularly interesting and helpful for me as it is often something that is individual and unique to them and I am inspired by your stories of yours and their successes. So, I would absolutely love a video in which (if possible) you could interview the top students in your year with them giving study tips and general advice for how we can work to be like them. That would be awesome. Thank you.

Spread out practice, juggle between topics within single study session, mindset change regarding other aspects of life too, knowing the syllabus and focusing more on weak subjects rather than revising the stuff we know, making a tally regarding revision, how well we recalled and the date of review

Hey, I just wanted to comment and say that I am currently in law school doing a conversion course and I was terrified of exams. Coming from a humanities background where we are assessed more through essays rather than examinations I was uneasy with exams. I had a hard time with most of my past exams specially a levels so I was really scared about going to law school. But thanks to your revision tips I was 2 marks of a distinction. Thank you so much, you have legit changed my study life forever. These tips really do work. The proof is in the pudding

I was never capable of finishing my topics in one sitting, instead I would take breaks every now and then and my grades are great, but I’ve always hated myself because I couldn’t concentrate for a long time or can’t do long sessions of studying like most people. What do you know? I was better than most people this whole time!

Yaaaaas. Thanks for this Ali! Seriously! I have 3 weeks left until my first exam and I have found myself trying to really remember the details to the point where I spend hours on one topic. Thanks so much for this - I will strive to impliment this technique in all aspects of my life.
