The change to a pass fail system is a huge boon to US med students. The ones who will have difficulty are the IMGs, who are able to use a higher exam score to qualify. Now, besides step 2, the weight of the applications will go to things like research, which is not heavily done in many countries esp third world countries where resources and access to making high quality research are far less.

If usmle is only pass/fail now then how will we get residenc match? When a large number of students manage to pass it, what will be the deciding factor now? It's like taking notes in class from lectures or from a book - take notes on what the source stresses is important to understanding the concept and what you think is important for understanding.

I like to annotate while listening and then create a list of the concepts taught in the video (ie. Pathophysi, symptoms, diagnosis, management) and then I come back on a scheduled basis and test how well I can teach it on a whiteboard.

If you have already joined medical college..get ecfmg certified and you will be good to go..if not, consider studying medicine in countries where colleges are wfme certified..
