How to Style ONE Kimono for TWO Seasons

In this video I share I how style kimono for 2 different seasons. I will focus on hitoe (unlined kimono), because you wear them in June and September which are completely different seasons. I show you all hitoe I own and some styling options for autumn and summer.

Wore yukata to Sakura Matsuri in April because it’s already in the 80’s, Tokyo can come here and scold me for it if they want! The humidity is monstrous.

It's nice to see you use yukata as hitoe kimono. I was actually wondering if there was any structural differences between them (in the way the colar is shaped or something), so this partially answers my question :). I own only one kimono, that is very pretty but is silk, formal (houmongi) and lined, so I have very few occasion where I can actually wear it, especially now that summer has come... So knowing that I could "convert" my yukata as a kimono makes me happy ^^

Hi Billy, can you make a video on salvaging old kimono into Haori and obi? PLEASE!!! There are no videos on this and I have a bunch of old kimono I would like to do this with.BTW I want to say thank you for making me love my culture again through all of your videos on kimono. It is interesting to know that it is not a must to wear summer obiage only in summer. I have a white Nagoya obi with Snow Ring prints that was designated for Summer when I bought it, but it is made of silk. Was wondering if this had to be worn only in summer or could be worn in other seasons

Can I ask about the yellow Iromuji with the patterns? I have a silk coral woven pattern kimono that looks similar to yours and I wasn't absolutely sure if it was considered Iromuji or Komon Kimono. I've seen some blogs claim that iromuji kimonos never have patterns so I assumed mine would be considered Komon. I know the rule that Fukuro Obi with gold/silver can sometimes be paired with iromuji for formal events, but would that work with this woven type of iromuji?

The white collar can be a nagajuban (kimono under clothes worn between kimono and kimono underwear) OR a collar that ou can just tie around your waist/under your bust without needing a nagajuban. I hope this made sense and dhelped but if it doesnt you should look it up!

Why are synthetic hitoe kimono so hard to find. Like you I live in a much warmer place (South of France). It took me a month of search to find 3 of them on all the internetz and none at my size (of course). Are they unpopular? Where or how could we find them? And things like linen are completely impossible to find out there... And nobody wanted that green kimono???? It's the most beautiful of all! I want it so bad. And the first outfit...

It's impossible to find linen used kimono, but you can buy them brand new! I know two places where you can buy them that sell internationally, kimono yamato and someorikodama

@@okmanb3052 Thank you! It's really hard to find the places where you can buy when you don't know and can't read Japanese. I anything, the most useful for beginners outside of Japan would be to have a list of those websites and the keywords to know how to choose (not just formalities, but also linings, fabrics, etc.). Sellers don't make it easy either, you often can't even filter by lining or fabrics materials or weaves...
