i love 80s hair because it's just kind of like... fuck around with it, mess it up, just go mad and random and it doesn't have to end up looking 'sleek and perfect' like today's hairstyles. it works for me because i'm lazy and i love big hair lol but i also have really damaged hair so the 80s thing seems to work because all the craziness hides my frizz and damage. idk. it's my fave. let's bring it back.

Lara Croft Forever. I really appreciate that all of us are on the same page. I'm really disliking the boring 2010s looks. Right now in late 2017, the fashion is going back to the 80s and 90s but the hairstyles remain the same sadly..that's a huge puzzle piece that's missing

Okay, I'm 49 and was in high-school in the mid-80's. And I can tell you, no one I knew did their hair like this. There seems to be this concentration of labeling the 80's with hairstyles that I think were mostly at the tail end of the decade, where the hair was possibly big like this. Throughout most of the decade, though, the styles were much ""smaller". Most of us wore our hair at shoulder length, with a part down the middle, with feathered bangs and sides, done with curling irons. And the hair wasn't all one length, but layered, with shorter bangs. In fact, the most envied achievements were the girls that could feather their curls all the way from the front to the back, toward the center. Take a look at Molly Ringwald and the chicks in the John Hughes films, which were the epitome of style in the 80's. Not her or anyone anyone else had "big hair" at all.

A big missing piece to the era hair puzzle is some people simply have hair with a tendency to land in a certain era. You may go for a look and it never comes out right, and some have to go to insane lengths to get a style to the point that it's just not doable because one step and it's falling out. Nowadays it's best to just find what era you suit best and roll with that.
@KeilaBevins Жыл бұрын
That’s what I was thinking! But also specific parts of different eras. Like maybe you can find good like 60s hair, but the eye makeup is impossible because all the models they used had a specific eye shape, so you use eye makeup tips from a different decade, where the standard had a similar eye shape to your own. Like the 80s also had crazy eye makeup, but the eye shape standard was like the opposite to the 60s one.

No no and no. Only hairspray to finish. Prep the hair with mousse or gel for thicker hair when wet, then do a blow out, and you have to have crown layers. This is complete garbage and not accurate for the era. Maybe a 12 year old would do this after seeing a rock shoot in a magazine then to attempt, but not seasoned adults or stylists.

This is like a failed late 70s very early 80s studio 54 hair. Only he shouldn't have done that ratting and used a touchable silk spray. She didn't get an 80s blow out and she does not have the crown layers cut to do 80s hair, which was what he was after. So it's a faux 80s hair. EVERYONES had the crown layers, just some left it straight (Joan Jett types) whereas others blow dried like mad (unless you had a perm to help it along) with a small round brush backwards, then one small layer gets blown to curl under near the forehead. Then you either scrunched the rest hanging down or just let it hang. Hair Spray was only to finish, we lived on mousse to prep (fine hair) and process, and for thicker hair, LA Gel. Big difference in how it handles styling.
