Sis at 2:20 has way too much product (whatever it was) in her hair. The key to a successful silk press is hair with no product build up. Clarify the hair, use a dime sized a mount of heat protectant throughout the whole head, and blow dry, then straighten using the chase method. One pass to press, another to curl/style.

An example would be calling cornrows boxer braids. This was the "Farrah Fawcet" and was extremely popular in the 70s Donna Summer wore it pretty regularly. Cultural appropriation would be black people wearing it and calling it the Donna Summer and just an fyi black people don't have to straighten their hair to achieve this style. It has been done on locks, braided hair and blow dried hair with rollers.

@@omoleceline3781 Hoogle is free. Their are several different types of braids you can achieve this style with, you can't do it with cornrows but easily achieved with rollers and micro braids. Its also easily achieved with rollers on blow dried hair with rollers in kinky textures. The styles actul term is a long feathered shag. That is essentially long layers, curled and feathered, thats it. Btw just because you don't see it in the videos doesn't mean people are giving her credit...I literally just did.

You can't let your hair fully wrap around the barrel like a curling iron, or it will get stuck. So you can do your bangs or add a flip to the very ends of your hair. That's why layers work well for this hairstyle because it has feathery ends that frame the face. Those ends are then flipped upwards (called flybacks I think?). And there's different sizes of round brushes that might make it more likely to get stuck. Just remember not to wrap the hair ever fully around the brush

For the idiots who dont know NO this isnt a cultural thing. It was litterally a trend that many race of women would do back in the day. It was extremely popular. A culture is the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group. So unless this was created as a custom within a social group, (which it wasnt) no it wouldnt be a culture. Kimonos, braids, war bonnets, Bindi, hijabs, they all have to do with culture. This style however isnt one of those, it was a popular trend back then, and that was all.
