Hi Becky! love your videos. I use masking tape for tumblers but I haven't tried sublimating a mug yet. For my tumblers I was still getting ghosting with shrink wrap and the masking tape, even though it takes a little more time, gave me great looking seams for tumblers. There is a little bit of sticky residue from the masking tape on the bottom and on the inside rim so I use a little bit of goo gone and dawn soap and it comes right off. Good tip about the butcher paper for the mugs! 400 degree for 15 minutes seems so long when I do tumblers for 350/5mins!

Silicone locking mug wraps aren't very expensive and will last a life time if taken care of. The little they do cost will save you lots of time in the long run. After all, time is money if you are doing these to sell. Another important thing here: Once you sublimate in any cooking device, it can no longer be used for food!

I’m so confused about the length of time you ‘cook’ the mugs. I read people comment they only cook for 3-4 minutes. How long do you cook when you use a silicone wrap?
@DesignBundles3 жыл бұрын
Hey Shelley, the time will vary a little depending on what you are using to sublimate. A mug press will take less time than a convection oven. Also, the vendor you purchase your mugs from should be able to give you the recommended time and temperature for their product as they have tested it. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Him I love your videos, you're always straight to the point. I have a quick question, how long it takes (approximately, I know depend on lot of stuff), but on average how long it takes to air dry sublimation ink after printing so you're able to used it on a mug? Last knight I tried sublimating on a mug, printed out sublimation ink on sublimation paper, bought from a dealer that do this job more then 15 years, everything is in place, I air dry the ink for more then hour, and still got smudged mug, so frustrated... What's wrong? Thank you
@DesignBundles3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tomislav! I think if you allowed the print to dry for over an hour, it sounds like you are getting ghosting of some kind during the pressing process. If the design moves slightly or if the wrap isn't tight enough. I would try to use an adhesive spray if you aren't already and see if that helps. Hope this helps! ---Becky

@@DesignBundles Did you sublimate the magic mug? I try that but my image is still showing true that heat-sensitive layer, it is partially hidden but nothing like you see on youtube like there is nothing and then the image appears after you pour hot water. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.
@HalfAssHomestead3 жыл бұрын
I take my designs right off the printer, trim them, and begin applying immediately. You do not have to let it air dry. In fact, that time sitting there may be introducing a high moisture content to the print that will cause the graphics to smudge. It could also be that you are cooking them at a higher temperature than the device is telling you. Not all of them are really accurate. Use a touch-less laser thermometer and check your actual temperature.
@tomislavkukic13953 жыл бұрын
@@HalfAssHomestead Thanks. I finaly figure it out and bought FAST drying sublimation paper, all sorted out, all colors are good no smudges equipment at default settings... Who knew, only paper was the problem... Thank you.

What is the difference between sublimation and infusible ink? Can you use sublimation svg images for infusible and vice versa? What is a sublimation printer and how is it different than an ink jet printer?
@DesignBundles4 жыл бұрын
Hey Patty! So Sublimation and Infusible Ink are very similar in concept but very different in actual application. I'll link some videos down below if that'll help. Infusible Ink is basically preprinted sublimation patterns, so you will still have to cut the design with your cutting machine. With a sublimation printer, you can design and print whatever design you would like, no cutting involved. You cannot use sublimation images for Infusible Ink, you would use cut files. A sublimation printer and inkjet printer are actually fairly similar, the difference is in the ink itself. whats the difference between the convection oven and a mug press?
@DesignBundles4 жыл бұрын
A mug press is going to have clamps that fit specific sizes of mugs, so they are somewhat limited, but they also take less time. Convection ovens can be used to sublimate anything that you can put a wrap around, or rather anything that can fit inside the oven, which makes it more versatile, but it typically takes longer for mugs (15 minutes vs 5 minutes).
