A person should not be defined by a disease they have, they are a person suffering from it. I know it may seem pedantic, but it feels better to know I'm suffering from something than to feel like it's all I am.

My partner and his step dad keep taking drugs. I'm stressed, sad and been dealing with this for way too long I don't know how much more I can take. Don't have any one to talk to about this and his mom doesn't know about his stepdad taking drugs and influencing him. I so badly want to tell her, 1 so she's knows and 2 so I don't have to deal with this alone.

I feel you, it's same situation with me and my mother. my stupid father never stop taking drugs, it giving g us headache and stress my mother couldn't take it and cry every time when my father takes money to buy drugs every day whenever we have money he goes buy and waste all of it like nothing, he doesn't care anything even his own family it really makes me furious and I don't how to deal with this kind of situation, I don't want see my mother sad and crying it tearing my heart ,it's painful for me watched my mother depressed 😢

walk away from them,...they will suck your life energy from you , steal from you, take advantage of your kindness. Do not enable. Sadly you may have to make the move permanently. They relapse first chance they get without a second thought! they care more about themselves than YOU! WALK AWAY for good.

You could send a fake hospital letter with positive results of the drug the person is taking with their information. Ik it's elaborate but if you want to keep anonymity it's a rough idea.

I think it's more like when you see someone dying in front of you. Maybe they are dying because they stabbed themselves or tried to commit a suicide in other way or even accidentally(and not intentionally) did something that you know will kill them in a few minutes.What would you do in those few minutes? Try to change them or try to convince them to see how bad their choices in life are? Or would you say nothing bad but something nice like "thank you for all the good times"? They are dying right now!!! Well, if they set themselves on fire and are still alive but the fire is spreading quickly, you'd probably keep a distance to save your own life (unless it was your own infant child, perhaps). But you wouldn't berate them, right? If you could safely be there close while they are dying,you would probably hold their hand and smile and say "I love you" right before they die..... My point is if you see it's a totally lost person and their addiction will eventually kill them or send them to prison, and they don't even see their addiction or any problems with it....let it go without resentment..it's not your fault that you see things so differently. Just see them as someone who is already dying. It's just a slow form of dying, but they are willingly killing themselves and you can't tell them to stop because they don't even think they are killing themselves. All you can do is keep a safe distance for your own health&peace while also being kind to them from that distance. And if you feel like they finally have only a few hours or minutes left to live, you can come close enough to be able to hold their hand and say "I love you" so that they have a little comfort before they die. That's all you can do. THAT'S ALL YOU CAN DO. Don't try to change anyone. Don't stop someone from trying to kill themselves if that is what they want to do. ✌️ PEACE 🕊️ PEACE

this guy is right, Don't enable them. don't bail them out. make them deal with the consequences of their actions. but do give them a refuge, a safe place to go! also if they ask for a certain type of help (that isn't enablement) then help them in that way! many times in my drug addiction people gave me the help that THEY thought I needed instead of the help I asked for! so example if an addict says "I need someone to talk too, can I talk to you" then talk to them! DO NOT just say oh you need to call this addiction service and walk away!. sit down and talk to them and yes they probably do need to call the service but that isn't what they asked for! every time someone did this kind of thing to me it made things harder not better!

Are you sure there is a reason? I am a drug addict and there is no specific reason..I simply feel so depressed I rather die than live like that and opiates completely relieve that. There's no specific reason...I just feel good on them and bad off them. When people say "get high" I dunno wtf they mean, I don't take opiates to feel high I take them to feel normal, like a normal functioning person who doesn't want to die and think about death constantly. I've tried other drugs (medications) some numb me so they take the lows but they also take the high n I hate how I feel on antidepressants or benzos etc I love opiates they make me feel loved...comforted...warm...I like life on them more than off them and that's the reason why I take them. How do you treat that? You don't. Death is the only cure. Good luck with whoever it is you're talking about...not every case is like mine. I pray for you. MUCH LOVE

@@thagodwecreate5179so… depression is your reason 😅 i know what you’re trying to say… it’s not like, “oh i lost my kids and job and picked up smoking crack. losing your job and kids would be the specific trigger… while you could be having a completely normal day and ur friend who’s always asking you to smoke with them offers and today you finally accept… because you’ve already lost so much and you’re like, “fuck it” then DEPRESSION IS still A REASON… i always say, “if it’s ruining your life and you can’t let it go.” it’s an addiction and an addiction is born out of darkness and or a lack of love…

I don’t know what to do. I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost two years( he’s planning engagement) he won’t quit and it’s making it hard for me to stop smoking. I love him so much but he hasn’t looked for any help for it. My gut is telling me to leave for myself but I love him. What should I do ?

Coming from someone who has been sober for years .. yet my finance soon to be wife was about to dump me had I not quit. I'd give him the ultimatum.. tell him you are there for him... encourage him to change .. yet make it clear if he doesn't it won't last. If he cares about you and more importantly himself .. he will change .. and love you even more because of it. I feel like the luckiest man in the world and I would have it no other way that my lady saw the bad side of me before the good. It only made us stronger. Don't listen to everyone saying to not give this man a chance .. he deserves a chance with open communication if you care for him.. from then it's on him to change. Once he sees alcohol as something that has not positive impact on his life .. that's when it hits. The matrix neo - light bulb moment if you will.. Good luck - cheers

Hi Dr T my question is can patient take neltraxone injection + pill form at same time .Sometime patient is taking vivitrol monthly shot and still if experiencing craving can take pill for that cravings to stop for the movement Thank you

Listen. This is late. You do probably know this. But life goes so far. So so so so so far. Okay? Every problem a person might ever have. Is temporary. We are in this life to "make the best" out of it somehow. To live it as.comfortably as possible. Sadly, drugs don't allow that. Drugs, medication, alcohol. They are there for just that time. The consequences hurt more than the actual action. And even tho it might. Just might feel good at that time. It won't make the feeling go away. It will make it worse. I have a friend who is an addict. I've seen how suicidal, how depressed and anxious they can be. Maybe you know this. But being an addict doesn't mean you failed. It doesn't mean that you are weak. It just means that you are struggling, and you are vulnerable. And that's okay. Therapy and rehab aren't the choice for everyone. And you can't be forced into it. And frantically. I can't change your mind. Hell. Nobody can change anyone's mind. You present the facts and opinions, and they choose to deal with it. however, they think it is right. You are not a bad person. You are just a human. And we all make mistakes and wrong choices, okay? It's okay to need help, it's okay to need someone, it's okay yo cry, it's okay to scream, it's okay to feel sad, it's okay to be anxious and it's okay to not feel anything at all. Take care as much as you possibly can. Even tho I know that might not be in your mind rn.
