I'm a junior in highschool so I've done 2 band camps (we still had band camp during 2020) bring a LOT of water, if you can bring a water bottle that keeps your water cold USE IT also put ice in your water you will be HOT wear a hat and or sunglasses bring sunscreen because if you don't you WILL burn if you burn easily wear t shirts to band, DO NOT WEAR A TANK TOP YOU WILL BURN WHETHER YOU WEAR SUNSCREEN OR NOT clarinets when you set your instruments down for a while to focus on marching your instrument will be HOT when you pick it up again (trust me I am a clarinet) TENNIS SHOES talk to the upperclassmen, we don't bite and although online we can be mean toward freshman in real life were actually really nice and we are excited to scope you guys out to see how good you are, if we take a liking to you we might even adopt you and take care of you and help you throughout the season listen to the section leaders they know what they are doing and are just trying to bring the section together and make us look and sound good, they are not trying to be mean pay attention to little band traditions like stuff during the cadence, after rehearsals, what the band gets excited about etc. it may be confusing at first but it makes it more fun for you when you go along with it and figure it out. focus on the marching more than worrying about the music and being able to play and March at the same time. if you can't play and March yet don't worry just March and the upperclassmen and trumpets will cover you. if you live in a place that gets cold in the fall, hand warmers will be a LIFESAVER, also leave warm clothes and Hoodie, gloves (fingerless I your clarinet), hat, etc. in your band locker because it will get COLD

I don't actually think 94 is hot because I'm cold natured. But humid heat is hotter than dry heat first of all. Take a 100 degree day and at the humidity that our weather says "feels like 110". Then add 10-15 more degrees bc we rehearse on asphalt for 8 hours..it gets sweaty
