He was caught in the cross-fire. My grandmother rarely speaks of it, but each year on the anniversary of his death we gather together to honour him and the other brave men and women who lost their lives in a war they had nothing to do with.

Several points I’d like to add. 1) if visibility is a concern insert at night, as mentioned light travels differently underwater and doing this under a new moon when not even moonlight is showing will give you the greatest level of concealment. 2) as a diver I can say keeping your equipment operational during normal shallow dives is daunting enough, during combat operations it’s sure to be much worse. So bring down extra rebreathers, regulators, tanks, masks, lights, tubes, BCD’s, depth gauges, dive computers etc, cause someone is gonna get a cracked mask at some point and if you don’t have a spare on hand he’s as good as any casualty. 3) Allen touched on this point but move cautiously. Humans are not able to handle pressure changes well and if you try to descend too fast odds are you’ll hurt yourself by popping an eardrum. In any underwater combat you’ll be moving at snails pace compared to that around you so find fixed positions where the enemy has to come to you. Don’t go casing him into the reefs and trenches cause you’ll never catch up and he’ll definitely outmaneuver you. 4) Bring a goddamn navy. The republic decided a few space ships on the surface would be sufficient and they’re idiots. If you’re in charge of this underwater operation then bring the right tools. I’m talking old fashioned surface boats (bring on the sea dogs), submarines, drones, probes torpedoes and depth charges galore. You’re Infantry will, at best, be capable of static defense or slow and quiet infiltrations. Any mass charges is gonna be a slaughter. So you’ll need machines to do anything else if you don’t have a competent native auxiliary. Use probes, submersibles and drones to find enemy camps and cities and torpedo the hell out of them like you’re the air force in Cambodia. If it moves bomb it, if it thinks then bomb it, if you think it thinks then bomb it. You’re safety is a hell of a lot more important than some coral or sea rocks. Also as a note AT-TEs are pressurized for vacuum so you can probably bring those as well for any sea floor engagements. Don’t expect them to preform well though. 5) Don’t treat this as a limited engagement. In another astounding display of republic ineptitude they thought this would be a quick battle. Don’t count on it. As mentioned you’ll be on the back-foot this entire campaign. And you’re adversaries are gonna choose when and where the fighting happens so set up the proper facilities. You need safe zones for soldiers to decompress, dry off and eat, drink or sleep, on site diving stations for troops to stock up, repair equipment and refill ammunition, miles of lines, cables and anchors for pressurized prefab buildings, communications and guidance. Rotating schedules to transfer fresh troops into the depths and bring those who need a respite out. On site medical facilities ect ect. This is gonna be a war so you need to be prepared for one and all the organization that entails.

We are suppose to be Clone Troopers and the chances of a regular clone being given command of the battle of Mon Cala is basically zero. For the second point, it would be way to heavy and would sink down forcing you to fight against the weight and probably fail until you hit ground. For the first point, going into water at night is basically like committing suicide when your fighting droids and fish people who can probably naturally see in the dark under water. Sorry that I answered in a very fucked up format.

Raiden No worries about the format. Anyway you can easily sink and anchor all the extra gear at whatever FOB you’re operating from, and as I said bring the extra gear but also fight under the assumption that this’ll be an extended underwater campaign. Have and operate facilities, prefabs and anything else you’ll need. Next there’s no way those helmets do not have some kind of vision enhancements. You’re going under the cover of night for the best concealment not for complete invisibility. If we assume clones are completely blind at night then any underwater operations end at dusk or when troopers go below 200m.

Since the clones had full access to the oceans of Kamino throughout their preparation/training. I believe its safe to assume the scuba-specialist clones functioned at peak capability underwater (for a human). The scuba sub-class would have spent their entire childhood in the water running simulations with their gear. So they should be just as comfortable moving in the dark depths as any other sentient aquatic species. I'd even go farther and say they were the most optimally prepared for their missions to come then any other specialty sub-class. Everyone else training for air-drops and ground assaults didn't really have much ground variety to practice with. A variety of harsh ocean conditions on the other hand....

You mentioned the Gungans. One thing of note I have not heard a mention of, is this - Gungans are a part-amphibious species. How did Jar Jar Binks survive on the dry worlds without, uh, 'drying out'? He would have been very dessicated in short order without regular dips in some form of liquid. Just thought I'd throw that hat into the ring and see what your explanation would be. Invest in better equipment, training and when possible encourage specialization. Especially for the Stormtrooper Corps learning better adaptation and preparation for the environments they will be operating in is crucial, sure they have good equipment available, but there's a large gap from bringing the right clothes to knowing what to expect on the hike.

Quick correction, Infrared gogles will not aid you under water. In fact they will put you at a sifnificant disadvantage. Infrared wavelengths are absodrbed much quicker in water than the visible parts of the spectrum. Just stick with regular gogles, or if you can manage it, whacky space magic gogles.

Seeing Ahsoka Tano with a different facemask than the others to account for her montrals makes me wonder how well those things do at lower depths, I mean, they're hollow to allow for heightened spatial awareness via echolocation, wouldn't that mean her montrals would be at risk of being crushed if she dived too deep? Obviously she was still at a depth where she could breathe from the mask without much issue, so the pressure might not've been that bad, but large hollow chambers in a body, especially of unusual shape, tend to be stress points while deep underwater

A more effective Clone trooper armor camouflage color would be red. The wave lengths are interrupted more than blues and greens and appear bracken and black. Of course this would have the reverse effect on the surface or boarding parties illuminated with white light.

you don't really need fire, what you need is heat and energy. And even underwater there are energy and heat sources and methods to generate and use them. Species that always lived underwater will certainly have developed technology that fits to their environment. Plus, for travelling, living and surviving in space you probably need similar tech as for underwater.

Tbh, the Scuba Trooper Armor in the Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003 TV series) seems a lot faster. I wonder if there's an underwater variant of the Z6 Rotary Blaster Cannon... Lmao, early order 66. If there is such a variant of the Z6, you and your clone brothers can just sit back in a firing line and fill up the empty space. Friendly fire is on through... So remember that. Or don't.
